Chapter 234
In a quiet corner of the banquet hall, Chloe studied Mrs. Quinn closely.

At first glance, there was something familiar about her features, but Chloe just couldn’t quite remember who
this woman was.
Chloe’s gaze drifted to Mrs. Quinn’s slightly rounded belly, and she instinctively took a cautious step back.
“Let’s cut to the chase. I don’t like beating around the bush,” Chloe said.
Mrs. Quinn propped one hand on her back and the other over her belly, totally rocking the pregnant look. “Don’t you think I look a lot like Andrea?”
‘Andrea?‘ Chloe blinked, her mind racing.
“Are you Andrea’s…?” Chloe blurted out, her voice full of surprise.
Mrs. Quinn’s smile faded bit by bit.
She stepped forward, leaned in close to Chloe, and lowered her voice. “I’m Andrea’s aunt, Violet Quinn.”
When Violet finished speaking, she slowly straightened up, watching Chloe to see how she’d react.
Chloe froze for a second, then the realization hit her.
‘So that’s why Andrea’s brother and sister–in–law were invited tonight—it was because Henry just married Andrea’s aunt,’ Chloe realized.
They locked eyes, both silent, the air thick with unspoken words.
Then Henry strolled over. “Hey, what’re you two talking about?”
Violet flashed a smile. “Yvonne told me I had to meet this incredible doctor.”
Henry recognized Chloe instantly. “Turns out it’s Dr. Irvine.”
He gave Chloe a polite nod, then gently guided Violet away to rest.
Chloe stood expressionless, watching as Henry carefully escorted Violet away to rest.
Seeing how protective Henry was, it was obvious Violet was the apple of the Quinn family’s eye.
“What, getting scared now?”
Chloe turned around at the sound of that familiar, taunting voice behind her.
Andrea’s brother and sister–in–law, along with Vivian, had already walked right up to her.
Andrea’s sister–in–law, Chloe, gave her a mocking look. “Hey Chloe, Aunt Violet runs the Quinn family now.

Chloe shot each of them a look, then fired back, “I’m not some helpless lamb waiting for Violet to chop me up. Who does she think she is, acting like she can just boss me around?”
Vivian, backed by her new support, sneered, “Chloe, all you’ve got left is your mouth. It won’t be long before every rich lady in Kingsford gangs up to kick you out, and you’ll have nowhere left to go.”
Chloe let out a cold laugh. “Funny, isn’t it? You’re just a parasite–an illegitimate daughter–and you still manage to hang around in Kingsford. Yet I work hard, play by the rules, and someone’s telling me I can’t stay? Who are you kidding?”
Chloe scanned the three of them, her eyes steely. “Andrea was tossed in jail by Ian himself. You guys don’t have the guts to go after him, so you turn your claws on me? If we’re talking about looking down on people, none of you can compete.”
Just then, Chloe spotted Eric Jordan waving at her from across the room. She ignored the three of them and didn’t bother sticking around for their drama.
Eric Jordan immediately caught the change in Chloe’s face and asked with concern, “Did you get into trouble?”
Chloe shook her head.
Eric Jordan breathed a sigh of relief. “Come on, let me introduce you to a mentor of mine.”
About half an hour later, Chloe and Eric walked out of the side room.
They bumped right into Ian and Patrick.
Everyone said hi to each other.
But Ian just stared at Chloe with those deep, unreadable eyes of his, saying nothing.
Chloe ignored Ian’s intense gaze and said, “Eric, Patrick, you two go ahead–I need to run to the restroom.”
Chloe made her way to the staircase alone.
Violet seized the moment, catching Chloe by the arm. “Dr. Irvine, you and Miss Monroe are both important guests here tonight. Since Miss Monroe is happy to pay for your dress, let me take you to change into something clean. It’ll be on us, of course.”
Chloe just wanted as much distance as possible from both women. “Really, I’ll pass,” she muttered, her tone jcy.
She tried to yank her arm away, but Violet’s hands pressed down even tighter. Violet lowered her voice, her smile never wavering: “Dr. Irvine, no need to be so polite with me?
Chloe felt a sharp stab of pain in her arm and instinctively jerked herself free.
Violet staggered, let out a piercing scream, and tumbled right over at the threshold of the restroom.

Violet struggled up from the floor, one hand pressed tight to her belly, her face twisted in pain. Then she fixed Chloe with a wounded look and snapped, “Dr. Irvine, sure, I’m Andrea’s aunt, but I’ve never crossed you! Even if you hate Andrea, how could you be so vicious, shoving a pregnant woman like me?”
Right there in front of everyone, Violet played up her connection to Andrea, accusing Chloe of lashing out and knocking her down out of pure spite.
Vivian chimed in right away, all drama. “Dr. Irvine, Andrea’s life is already a mess because of you, and now you’re going after her family too? You knew Aunt Violet was pregnant and still went for her–admit it, you wanted her to lose the baby, just to get revenge on the Sherman family!”
Andrea’s brother and Chloe crowded around Violet, raising their voices so the whole crowd could hear. “Chloe Irvine! Don’t pretend you didn’t know Aunt Violet’s expecting the Quinn family’s only heir, and you still had the gall to push her, wishing she’d lose the baby! So what if the Sherman family isn’t some big clan? You act like even the Quinn family means nothing to you—so arrogant!”
With Vivian and Andrea’s brother and sister–in–law stirring up the drama, the crowd wasted no time ganging up on Chloe–I mean, everyone there was practically shouting her down.
Violet suddenly doubled over, clutching her stomach and screaming in pain. The servants freaked out and bolted downstairs to call for help.
Chloe barely had a chance to react before the whole mob blocked her path, demanding she stay put and yelling for someone to pull up the security footage.
Chloe stood there, stone–faced in the middle of the mob, her gaze locked coldly onto Violet. It was almost comical how their setup had turned the whole crowd against her.
Vivian had deliberately ruined her dress with lipstick, and Violet played the “helpful aunt,” insisting on changing, only to grip Chloe’s arm so hard Chloe jerked away without thinking–exactly when Violet went tumbling to the floor, drama dialed up to eleven.
Every single person in the restroom had now magically become a witness backing up Violet’s story.
Even if they pulled the surveillance footage, all it would show was Chloe shoving Violet herself. No one would care about the real setup behind it.
“They dug this pit just for me. I’m boxed in, and no matter what I say, there’s no way out,‘ Chloe thought, bitterly.
