A few minutes later, in the cramped front seat of the luxury car, lan gently took Chloe’s hands, checking her arm for injuries.

His worry was written all over his face and in his voice. “You hurt yourself like this just to keep Eric out of trouble. When you needed help, why didn’t you come to me?”

lan pressed, frustration in his tone, “Am I really that untrustworthy to you?”

Chloe pulled her hands back, her heart racing.

Chloe jerked her hands free from Ian’s grip.

She reached out to press the door unlock button on the center console, but Ian caught her hand with ease.

Breaking out in a nervous sweat, Chloe pressed him anxiously, “Ian, what are you trying to do?”

Ian studied Chloe’s expression intently, his eyes never leaving her face.

He said, “First, I’ll take you to the hospital so you can get your wound cleaned up. After that, just take off the dress and we’ll have it dry–cleaned. I’ll come with you to return it to Philip.”

Before Chloe could say anything, Ian continued, “Or, if you want to keep the dress, we’ll just pay Philip thirty million dollars for it instead.”

Chloe sat in the passenger seat, her nerves frayed, and snapped at Ian. “Ian, this is my business, not yours! You mess with me again, and I’m calling the police!”

She said it as she started digging through her bag for her phone.

Ian reached over and grabbed her phone right out of her hand before she could even get a grip on it.

Chloe was getting desperate.

She lunged over into the driver’s seat, grabbing at Ian’s hand to snatch her phone back.

In the middle of their tussle, Ian forced Chloe down onto his lap.

Face to face, Chloe ended up straddling Ian, their position embarrassingly intimate,

Chloe struggled to break free, but Ian kept her firmly in place on his lap.

Ian towered over Chloe, his gaze locked on her face, his Adam’s apple moving as he swallowed hard.

He said, “Chloe, I don’t want to argue with you. Be good and listen to me, alright? I’ll take you to the hospital to get your arm treated, and then come with me to explain things to Philip.”

Chloe raised her arm and shot back, “Ian, whatever happens to my arm is my problem, not yours—even if you paid me, it still wouldn’t matter to you. Whatever’s between me and Philip? That’s for me to handle, so

stop meddling!”

Ian’s eyes darted with emotion. “When I passed out in the supermarket this morning with a stomachache, you seriously left me lying there without a second thought. But now that you’re hurt? There’s no way I’m just going to sit back and do nothing.”

Chloe suddenly ducked her head, stifling a laugh she couldn’t hold back.

Ian’s face grew even darker as he saw her reaction.

Chloe looked up, her laughter fading away.

She shot Ian a look like he’d completely lost his mind.

Chloe snapped back, “Ian, back when we fought and I passed out right in front of you, didn’t you just leave me there and run straight to Andrea Sherman without a second thought?”

Chloe scoffed, “Look at me–I’m a woman and I’m perfectly fine. So what’s your problem, Ian? You’re a grown man, why are you acting so sensitive?”

Their eyes met, tension thick in the air.

Ian felt a sudden ache in his chest.

“I’m sorry,” Ian said.

He couldn’t help himself and hugged Chloe tightly again.

Chloe fought to break free. “I don’t want your sorry!”

She deserves someone better.

She owes it to herself.

“Ian, none of this is your business! Stay out of my life–you’re not controlling me anymore!” Chloe shouted, her voice trembling with fury.

Chloe didn’t back down for a second, fighting Ian off with everything she had.

In his panic, Ian pinned Chloe against the steering wheel.

Ian’s gaze, dark and possessive, lingered on Chloe’s tempting lips. “Chloe, you’re mine. No one else gets you.”

Ian leaned in, about to claim her lips, but stopped short when he saw the discomfort on Chloe’s face, worry immediately overtaking his desire.

He gently drew Chloe’s legs together and scooped her onto his lap with extra care, as if she were precious and fragile. “Did you hurt your waist?” Ian asked softly.

Chloe tried to break free, but Ian just held her tighter.

Chloe’s eyes turned red with frustration. “Ian, we grew up together, but you never loved me, never cared about me. And now you won’t let me go, won’t let anyone else treat me right.”

She looked lan straight in the eye. “How can you be so selfish? I really regret ever meeting you, and I regret marrying you even more!”

Chloe snapped at him, “You’re cold–blooded and heartless. You don’t deserve a marriage, you don’t deserve a family–you’re only fit to die alone!”

Ian met her eyes with complete sincerity. “Marriage is a vow for life. We promised we’d stay together for the rest of our lives.

Chloe shot him a look of pure disdain. “Let me guess, you told Andrea and her son the exact same thing, didn’t you?”

this.

She said, “lan, you’re the kind of businessman who only cares about his own bottom line. You don’t love anyone–it’s always just about your own interests.”

Chloe’s words pulled Ian out of his reverie.

Ian instinctively shook his head, but he couldn’t deny it.

Chloe said, “In our marriage, all you ever cared about was your own desire and gain.”

Before Ian could say anything, Chloe cut him off, her voice cool and sharp. “We’re both Scorpios, and I know how obsessed you are with purity. You want so badly to break free and give Andrea and her son a future, but at the end of the day, you just can’t accept being with a woman who’s slept with someone else and has already had a kid.”

Chloe continued, her tone biting, “You know I love you, that’s why you keep me close for cheap–I’m young, pretty, came up with the best education, and I’m right at home in high society. We move in the same circles, know all the same people.”

“That’s not how it is!” Ian blurted out, almost desperate. “Chloe, don’t see me that way!”

Chloe snapped, pain in her voice, “Why do Andrea get all your warmth and special treatment, but all you ever gave me was the Hamilton name and nothing else?”

“It’s all because I’m young, I’m pure, easy in bed, easy to use. No powerful family behind me, so you can twist me any way you want. You think I can’t get by without you, so you just do whatever you want!”

Ian couldn’t help himself–his emotions spilled over as he pulled Chloe close, holding her tightly. “That’s not how it is!

“You’re my wife–the woman I made my own. I never saw you as just a hookup, never just someone to use. I swear, Chloe, you’re so much more than that, and I never thought about you that way!” lan’s voice trembled with desperate sincerity.

Chloe’s words hit him right where it hurt. “You can deny it all you want, Ian, but that’s exactly what you did.”

“Ian, I don’t care who else comes into my life–there’s no way I’m ever getting back together with you. Not now, not ever,” Chloe declared, her voice hard as steel.

Ian suddenly let go of Chloe, his eyes blazing red with fury.

His face was stormy as he demanded, “Chloe, I’m asking you again–are you gonna cut ties with Philip or

not?

“No way in hell!Chloe fired back instantly.

She didn’t even wait for Ian to finish before cutting him off, her answer sharp and final.

Their eyes locked, and the sheer determination in Chloe’s gaze was the last straw for lan–he completely lost

His eyes burning red, lan bit out the words, heavy with accusation. “Chloe, you made me do this!”

Before Chloe could even react, lan fired up the engine.

He locked Chloe in his arms with one hand, gripped the wheel with the other, and slammed his foot on the gas–sending the car rocketing into the fast lane like a bullet.

Ian’s wild, reckless driving made Chloe’s heart race with panic. “Ian, where are you taking me?!”
