The Billion-Dollar Divorce (Ian and Chloe) novel Chapter 33

Chapter 33

In the silent room, Chloe’s cries of hurt and despair echoed in everyone’s ears, getting louder.

lan stood by the bed, watching Chloe sobbing in Jill’s arms, unable to keep his eyes on her.

Miranda, having rushed over after receiving her daughter’s call, arrived just in time to witness the scene

After greeting Frank, Miranda pushed her son aside and walked to the bedside. “Chloe, tell mom how you got

hurt.”

Chloe stopped her tears. “Miranda, I’m fine. I tripped and fell in the supermarket, just scraped a little skin.

Miranda finally felt relieved.

Chloe got out of bed and took Jill’s hand, saying, “I want to go home.

Even if she sold herself, she still couldn’t come up with the 300 million dollars for the divorce. But she couldn’t keep enduring this. If it went on like this, her life would fall apart, and she wouldn’t be able to keep her job. She had to escape this situation.

Although Chloe said it gently, everyone could hear the underlying meaning in her words.

She didn’t miss home. She wanted to separate from Ian and was preparing for divorce at any moment

Miranda stepped forward to persuade her. “Chloe, if it’s inconvenient for you to stay in the current house, you can move to Blue Cove Residences. It’s closer to the hospital where you work.”

Chloe shook her head and said, “Miranda, thank you, but I want to go home and live with my family.”

Ian stood frozen, staring at Chloe. He walked over to her and said, “It’s fine if you stay with your family for a few days. After a while, I’ll come to pick you up.”

Chloe didn’t argue. The immediate priority was to move back to her parents‘ house and separate from lan for

now.

Jill helped Chloe out of the room, and Ian followed them, only to be stopped by Frank.

Frank said to Miranda, “We’ll take Chloe home for now.”

Miranda understood that Frank was trying to give the Hamilton family respect, and his words were only half- spoken.

She couldn’t force Chloe to stay, so she could only accompany them to the hospital entrance.

Seeing Frank call a taxi, Ian stepped forward to him. “Let me drive you back.”

Frank saw that Ian’s eyes no longer held the pride they once did.

He rejected him completely. “You just go ahead and do what you need to.”

Seeing this, lan had no choice but to step in front of Chloe.

He tentatively reached for Chloe’s arm. “Chloe, it’s too hot. If you don’t want to see me, I’ll have Roben uke you home.”

Chloe didn’t even look up. She pulled away from lan’s hand and leaned clover to fill.

Ian stood helplessly, looking at Jill.

Jill looked at lan, her eyes full of accusation and restraint.

Jan lowered his gaze, his steps faltering as he took a step back.

Mia cautiously stepped forward. “Chloe, why don’t you let Patrick take you both home?

A taxi slowly pulled up, and Frank opened the door, letting Jill and Chloe get in first, then sat in the front passenger seat.

Ian stood still, watching the car drive off, feeling as if something was tightly squeezing his chest, making it hard to breathe.

Miranda’s face turned pale with anger. “They say sons take after their mothers. As your mother, I’ve just put up with your father for both of you. I’ve never been foolish in other things, so why did I end up with a son like you?”

After Mia and Miranda left, Patrick pulled Ian into the car.

The air conditioning was blasting in the car. Ian rolled down the window and lit a cigarette.

Patrick drove out of the hospital lot and parked under a tree by the side of the road. “Do you still need pads? If you do, I can take you to the mall now.”

Ian turned to Patrick, giving him a sharp look.

Patrick responded, “See? If you hadn’t bought the sanitary pads, Andrea’s period wouldn’t have flooded the

streets.”

In the evening, Frank was cooking in the kitchen while Chloe and her mother helped by washing vegetables

Frank looked at his wife, Jill. He was a strong, upright man, but now couldn’t help but redden his eyes.

Jill released Chloe from her embrace and silently stood up, walking toward the bedroom.

Soon, she returned, holding a black suitcase.

Jill opened the suitcase, revealing a set of jewelry inside.

Chloe looked at the jewelry in front of her, the top–tier emerald set with diamonds, clearly priceless. It seemed familiar to her.

Jill said to Chloe, “This set of jewelry is our Spencer family heirloom, passed down through four generations. When the Irvine family went bankrupt, your father and I sold everything we had to pay off the debts. I couldn’t bear to part with this set of jewelry. I wanted to leave something for you and Carl’s future.”

Jill continued, “When Ian paid off the Irvine family’s debts, Frank and I offered him this jewelry, but he didn’t want it at the time. Now that he’s asking for money, we must return it. This set of jewelry is worth over 300 million dollars. Take and sell it, and use the money to repay lan. I support your divorce.”

Over 300 million dollars for this jewelry?

Chloe felt like someone in hell had just seen the light of salvation. She hugged them and burst into tears.

She cried, unable to straighten her back. “I know I was wrong!”
