The next morning, in the CEO’s office of the Hamilton Group, Mitchell knocked and entered. “Mr. Ian Hamilton, Mr. Edward Hamilton sent Thomas over with a message. He says you need to return to the Hamilton Mansion today,” Mitchell reported.
Ian, quickly signing documents, looked up. “Book me a flight to Tecnovia tonight.”
Around lunchtime, Ian met Andrea at a restaurant near the Hamilton Group.
As the waiter served their food, Andrea kept stealing glances at Ian, trying to gauge his mood. She soon noticed that he kept checking his phone, clearly preoccupied.
She tightened her grip on her fork. “Ian, I’m sorry about last night. I shouldn’t have agreed with Mrs. Hamilton and moved into the house.”
Ian sliced his steak neatly, just grunting a reply.
Andrea couldn’t hide her discomfort, her hands clenching the knife and fork.
After a long pause, she finally said, “Ian, this whole mess between you and Mrs. Hamilton is all because of me. No matter what it costs me, I’ll find a way to convince her to come back. I’ll go talk to her and explain everything.”
Ian’s hand froze. He set his knife and fork down and looked Andrea straight in the eyes, his voice quiet but commanding.
He said, “Andrea, if you truly don’t want me and Chloe to divorce, the best thing you can do is keep your distance.”
Andrea was speechless, unable to find the right words to respond to Ian.
She forced a weak smile. “I’m sorry, Ian. I can be pretty clueless sometimes. I didn’t even realize Mrs. Hamilton was doing it on purpose. I won’t go talk to her, okay? Please don’t be mad.”
She continued, “When you were away on business, Mrs. Hamilton was so assertive. I just went along with whatever she said. I didn’t dare upset her, and honestly, I never gave it much thought. I guess I’m just too naive, always taking things at face value.”
Ian’s voice softened. “It’s not your fault. I know how Chloe is.”
He continued, “Just focus on your health. Once summer vacation is over, I’ll get Clint enrolled in school. Don’t worry about me and Chloe.”
Andrea nodded gratefully, her knuckles turning white as she clutched her utensils.
‘So he really isn’t planning to divorce Chloe at all. Looks like I’ll have to start with Chloe and find a way to make her walk away from Ian on her own,‘ she thought, narrowing her eyes.
That evening, Ian finally made it back to the Hamilton Mansion.

Miranda walked to the door, and then turned back. “Where’s Chloe? Why didn’t she come back with you?”
lan casually brushed it off. “She went abroad to relax.”
Shane burst out, “Mrs. Venn’s 80th birthday is in three days. She’s made it clear she wants to see Chloe. So why is Chloe off to relax at a time like this?”
Jan glanced over at his grandfather. “She lost her job at the hospital. She’s really upset, so I doubt she’s in any shape to go see Mrs. Venn right now.”
Edward sat in the main seat on the couch, leaning heavily on his cane, a dark look on his face. “Everything I’ve done is for your sake. She’s Mrs. Hamilton. How can she go to work as a hospital assistant? What kind of nonsense is that?”
Shane barked, “Tan, get Chloe on the phone right now and tell her to come home.”
Jan lowered his gaze, falling into silence.
Seeing this, Miranda gently persuaded him, “lan, Mrs. Venn asked for Chloe by name. Just let her come back for now. Once the party’s over, she can go wherever she likes.”
Being a rich lady was like playing a master–level social game. It could make or break a family’s future. And not everyone was cut out for it.
Jan lowered his gaze, hiding his feelings. “I’ll talk to her later and see if she’ll come back.”
Shane’s face flushed with fury. “You idiot! You turned our entire family upside down for a woman and you thought you could keep it from us?”
Miranda collapsed onto the sofa, clutching at her chest. “Tan, listen to me. Even if you do leave Chloe, Andrea and her son will ever step foot in this house!”
Edward, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke up, his voice cold and menacing, “lan, don’t forget what you promised me. If Chloe ends up divorcing you because of Andrea and her kid, I swear I won’t let them go”
Jan took a steadying, breath, keeping his voice as calm as he could. “Everyone, relax. I’m not divorcing Chloe.”
Mia looked like she was about to lose it. “So all this time you refused to divorce her just for Andrea and her kid?”
“I’m going to tell Chloe everything, I hope she never forgives you,” Mia screamed, bolting out of the living room, sobbing, with rage.
Jan watched Mia storm out, a deep frown creasing his brow.
Shane looked straight at lan, reminding him, “No matter what happens, you must bring Chloe to Mrs. Venn’s birthday party in three days”
Miranda looked between Edward, Shane, and Ian, anxiety written all over her face.
She finally burst out, her voice thick with worry and reproach. “Ian, Chloe ran off to some faraway place all alone. As her husband, you didn’t even rush to go after her? If anything happens to her, how will you ever face her parents?”
Jan’s expression hardened. “I’m flying to Tecnovia tonight. I’ll bring her home tomorrow.”
Jan thought, his jaw clenched tight, I’ve indulged her far too much. And now she dares to vanish overseas without even saying a word!
After leaving the Hamilton Mansion, Ian headed straight to the airport.
Four hours later, the plane touched down in Tecnovia, right on time for 9:30 pm local time.
A private car was waiting at the airport and took lan straight to Chloe’s apartment entrance.
Jan glanced at his watch. It was just ten.
It wasn’t that late. Chloe was probably still up.
After double–checking he had the right place, lan knocked.
