The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 124

"Alright, alright, I got it!"

Winona had to admit, hanging around with these clueless, loud-mouthed friends, she was bound to stick out just as much as they did.

Case in point: the look Felicity was giving her right now—purely the look you gave someone for being the center of attention.

But why were Felicity and Julian even here?

And it wasn't just them. Their whole crowd had shown up as well.

In such a small venue, why make such a grand entrance? What was the point?

Winona couldn't figure it out.

Nor did she care to.

She simply glanced coolly at Yves Prescott. "Let's go inside."

Yves smiled at her with unmistakable affection. "Alright."

As the two of them walked in, arm in arm, Claud gasped. "Winona… What on earth is going on?"

Claud had been away in New York for the past few weeks and had only just returned today, only to hear rumors that Yves Prescott was fighting Julian over prime real estate.

But now, seeing Winona and Yves together, Claud had to wonder—was Yves fighting Julian for property, or was he fighting for Julian's fiancée?

The two men had always been business rivals, but now, wasn't this personal? A betrayal like this—what man could tolerate it?

Winona was using this move against Julian.

Damn, that was low. And ruthless.

Claud cast a worried glance at Julian.

Julian, however, entered the auction hall with a blank expression, betraying nothing. Claud had no choice but to follow.

The auction itself was dull, the atmosphere heavy with unspoken agendas.

Everyone there had a purpose.

Julian was there to negotiate the real estate deal with Yves Prescott.

Yves leaned in and asked, "If you really want it, we can keep going."

Winona's voice was hoarse and defeated. "Even if I go up to three million, can you guarantee Felicity won't go to thirty million? Julian would pay any price for her. But me? I could never ask you for thirty million, and you'd never give it to me."

Yves stroked his chin, giving her a wry smile. "Fair point. Honestly, I wouldn't even pay over three million for you."

Winona didn't feel hurt at all by his words.

All she could do was watch as Felicity, hand in hand with Julian, went up to receive the wooden statue. The ache in her heart was overwhelming.

How would she ever explain this to her grandmother?

While she was lost in her own disappointment, Julian walked toward her.

Winona wanted, desperately, to say: "Julian, for the sake of our marriage, could you let me have the statue? It belongs to my grandmother's family."

But as Julian stopped in front of her, he didn't even spare her a glance.

He looked only at Yves Prescott, his voice cool and even. "Mr. Prescott, I have business to discuss with you."
