The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 164

"You filthy bitch, you remember what you said! I, Mackenzie, have never had an ounce of pity for a slut like you!" Mackenzie raised his right hand and slapped Winona hard across the face.

This blow landed even harder than the last, as if Mackenzie meant to kill her with a single slap.

As Mackenzie's hand swung toward Winona, Mayo instinctively turned away, unable to watch.

Regret pricked at Mayo's conscience for ever helping them.

Sure, he didn't like Winona. He thought her obsession with Julian was pathetic, and the way she interfered with Julian and Felicity's relationship was downright despicable.

But he'd called Winona and asked her to bring him some medicine—and she came. That had to mean she wasn't all bad.

"Mr. Chamberlain—" Mayo blurted, trying to stop Mackenzie.

But Mackenzie's hand had already connected with Winona's face. Instead of the crack of flesh on flesh, a different sound split the air—Mackenzie's sudden shriek: "Ow! What the hell are you holding, you crazy bitch? Are you out of your mind?"

Blood ran down Mackenzie's palm—a deep, jagged gash, nearly three inches long, where Winona's pocket knife had slashed him.

Clutching his bleeding hand, Mackenzie howled in pain.

But Winona didn't stop. She raised the blade and drove it straight into Mackenzie's cheek.

Mackenzie screamed, writhing on the ground in agony.

Everyone stood frozen in disbelief.

No one had expected Winona to fight back like this.

But Winona kept going. She stabbed Mackenzie again and again, wherever she could reach, while he curled up on the floor, sobbing and shrieking.

"Come on then!" Winona screamed. "Wasn't your plan to tie me up and hand me over to some homeless guy? Well, let's see you try! Anyone comes near me, I'll stab them to death! And if I can't kill you, I'll be out of prison one day, and I'll finish the job then!"

She whipped around to face Hattie, her voice venomous. "Hattie, you little rat! Don't let me catch you alone—I swear, I'll show you what it's like to be used and thrown away!"

Winona lunged at Hattie, knowing she was the smallest and weakest of them all.

Hattie crumpled to the floor, sobbing, "Please, no—help, someone help—"

"Coward," Winona spat, grabbing a fistful of Hattie's hair. "Tell me—what the hell did I ever do to you?"

Tears streamed down Hattie's cheeks. "You—you didn't…"

"Winona, that's enough." A cold, clear voice cut through the chaos from behind her. "If you don't stop now, even I won't be able to save you."
