The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 262

"Are you finished?" Winona asked.

Henrietta sputtered, "You… you're shameless!"

"Shameless or not, we both know the truth, don't we, Ms. Shepherd?" Winona's voice was calm, but edged with steel. "You think your daughter's project is so precious, so brilliant. Well, you'd better hold on to it tightly. Don't come crying to me when it all falls apart."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Henrietta demanded.

Winona didn't answer. She simply took Helga's arm and walked away. Henrietta was left shaking with rage. "She's so arrogant. We can't let her get away with this." She pulled out her phone and began typing furiously, her expression grim.

Outside, Winona and Mia carefully supported their grandmother, who was struggling to walk in her high heels. "Winnie, if you hadn't listened to me, you wouldn't have been hurt by that old bastard Frank," she said, her voice filled with guilt.

Winona shook her head. "My grandmother is the best, most beautiful old lady in the world, because she knows how to feel compassion for the weak, and she knows how to dress with style. Those people in there… it's hard to even tell if they're human or animal. So please, Grandma, don't let people like that upset you."

Helga nodded. "Okay, I'll listen to you, Winnie."

The three of them stood outside the hospital entrance, waiting to call an Uber. Suddenly, a crowd of people swarmed around them from all directions, trapping Winona in the center.

"Are you the professional mistress, Winona? The one who specializes in seducing high-society men and breaking up families?"

"Doesn't your conscience bother you when you destroy other people's relationships?"

"Mr. Prescott, Winona's all over the news! That guy Clayton and Frank did it. Her reputation is ruined, and now she's trapped by a mob of reporters outside the hospital. Where are you?"

Yves was silent for a moment. He had been called away to Port City yesterday for an urgent matter. Now, it was clear it had been a ruse to get him out of the city.

"I'm on my way back now," he said. He immediately called his men and ordered them to get to the hospital as fast as possible to rescue Winona. But no matter how fast they were, it would take time.

The crowd around Winona was growing, and their insults were getting louder. She saw no way to escape. Just as panic began to set in, a man in a black, double-breasted trench coat pushed his way through the crowd. He strode directly to her, unbuttoned his coat, and wrapped it around her, pulling her into his arms and shielding her as he pushed his way out.

It didn't take long for someone to recognize him. A vlogger, phone recording, shouted, "Mr. Nicholson, are you publicly defending this homewrecker? Are you involved with her too? What about your real wife?"
