What young woman doesn't dream of a lavish wedding, of a man who adores her completely and gives her a ceremony the world will talk about?
Winona was no exception. She longed for it.
But when she married Julian, he had refused to give her a wedding. Now, with two children and well past her youth, it was Yves who was offering her that dream.
"Yves Prescott, you've told me more than once that you don't marry divorcées," Winona said, a smile playing on her lips.
Yves grinned. "I've said more than once that I don't marry divorcées, but I never said I wouldn't *be married by* one. I never said I couldn't be the one to marry into a family."
Winona was speechless. She realized that arguing with Yves was a losing battle. His mind was too quick, and he had no ego to speak of. To him, saving face was worthless. She couldn't win.
So she changed the subject. "And how magnificent are we talking?"
"If Julian holds a wedding for Felicity on the 118th floor of the Greenwood City Spire, then I'll hold one for you there too—and it will be half an hour earlier. If he wants to have a wedding on a cruise ship, I'll book the same ship and do it for you. In short, I'll find every way possible to outdo her. I will deliberately one-up her," Yves said bluntly.
"People will say you have no class, no manners. That you're just new money."
"I *am* new money. For years, my old man exiled me overseas without a penny to my name. I've collected bottles, shined shoes, worked as a doorman, and parked cars. Then one day, through sheer force, I snatched the Prescott Group from my siblings and became rich overnight. What's the difference between me and some flashy upstart? I'm the textbook definition. I'm no Greenwood City aristocrat."
Though he claimed not to be an aristocrat, his actions were grander than any of the old-money families.
