The Billionaire Ex-Wife and the Beggar He Became novel Chapter 452

But Teague and Jason remained silent. Even the two children, who were always clamoring for their grandma, didn't make a sound.

A chill of fear shot through Henrietta.

Lifting her gaze, she understood immediately.

A dozen muscle-bound men had filed into the living room. They were unarmed, but their numbers alone were enough to hold Jason and Teague in check.

Henrietta's hope vanished. She began to sob, begging Winona for mercy. "Winona, please, stop hitting me! I may have abandoned you, but I never tried to kill you! Why are you trying to beat me to death?"

Even now, Henrietta was certain Tiana was still with the Nicholsons. They hated Winona too much to ever send the child back to her. Besides, even if they did, Winona would never accept Tiana. More importantly, Tiana was a little dog she had trained herself—too scared to even tell her own father, let alone Winona.

Winona couldn't possibly know about the pinching.

So why was she doing this?

Ignoring Henrietta's pleas, Winona continued the assault, not stopping until Henrietta's face was a bloody mess. When Henrietta's cries and pleas subsided and she lay on the floor like a broken doll, Winona finally relented. She straightened up and, baton in hand, headed for the second floor.

She was only upstairs for a few moments before coming back down. Her eyes, burning with rage, fixed on the two terrified eight-year-olds. She began to walk toward them, one deliberate step at a time.

Catherine, the little girl, burst into tears. "A monster! There's a monster in our house! Mommy, where are you? The monster is going to kill us!"

The little boy stumbled backward, his eyes wide with terror and brimming with tears.

"You!" the officer exclaimed, his expression hardening as he focused on Winona, his stance shifting to high alert.

At that moment, Felicity burst out of the maid's room, stumbling and crawling toward the police. "Officer!" she cried pitifully. "This woman is a monster! She almost beat my stomach in! I'm six months pregnant! I was so scared… This is terrifying! She broke into our home with a weapon! You have to give her the death penalty! Look what she did to my mother! She traumatized my children! Oh, God…"

The officer's gaze on Winona grew even more severe. "Cuff her. Take her away!"

But Winona just smiled calmly. Unhurried, she pulled a set of documents from her bag and handed them to the officer. "Take a look at these, will you?"

The officer took them and his eyes widened. After a moment, he stared back at her, stunned.
