Atlas, Penny, and Slater stood by the entrance of the outdoor patio, watching Lola and the twins play on the lawn. A subtle smile formed on Penny and Slater’s faces, their hearts filling with relief as they watched the trio laugh together.

"Just last night, I thought things would be different," Slater murmured quietly. "Thank God she’s fine."

Penny tilted her head and glanced at her eldest brother. "First Brother, you planned all of this, didn’t you?"

As always, Atlas didn’t answer right away as if the question hadn’t even registered. His eyes remained fixed on his children and the woman who had given them life, the woman who would soon become his wife. Just hearing his children’s bubbly laughter mingling with Lola’s voice was enough for him.

Finally, he understood his father.

Why his father would skip a meeting to watch his child’s basketball game.

Why he would forgo ambition if it meant spending time with his family.

Now, Atlas understood the man who had raised him—and his siblings—because he felt exactly the same way.

This was his treasure. Those three were his everything.

No amount of money, reputation, or power could ever compare to the sight before him. His children and their mother playing freely, without fear or care.

When Atlas finally spoke, it was an answer to Penny’s question.

"I didn’t," he denied calmly. "I just saw an opportunity... and took it."

Others might say he should’ve told Lola everything, but after being with her, he realized she’d rather hear the truth from anyone but him. Anyone, except him. Why? He had no idea. But somehow, he preferred it that way.

So when he saw Melissa in that hospital, he didn’t stop her. He let her take the bait. He handed her the weapon himself, knowing that someone like Melissa would grab a bomb and threaten someone with it, only to blow herself up in the process.

What hit Lola last night was simply a shard from that explosion.

"But that means you’re right, First Brother," Slater said, breaking the silence, his voice suddenly sharp. "Whoever took the kids and brought them to you... they’re already ahead of us."

Penny’s expression turned serious as she studied Atlas. The eldest brother didn’t answer right away.

He kept his gaze on Lola and the twins, who were now sticking their tongues out at him in pure mischief as if teasing him for missing out on their fun.

"That problem..." he trailed off, finally tearing his eyes from them to face his siblings. "...can wait."

A faint glint flashed in his eyes as his tone softened. "Once your big sister and I talk things through. After all, she’ll get bored if she’s not included."

"First Brother," Penny cleared her throat delicately. "I won’t have to worry about her joining the secret society, right?"
