The Billionaire Twins Need A New Mommy! novel Chapter 484

Chapter 484: No Progress Means Progress

The idea lingered in every single one of the Bennets, including Lola — the newest Bennet. However, they didn’t let that affect the remaining days they had in this paradise. Smiles, laughter, and silliness still echoed across the island.

But no matter what, Lola could feel the silent worry they all secretly worry.

Idling by the ocean under a large umbrella with a simple cloth spread beneath her, she watched the children playing with the adults. Penny and Zoren were with their kids, Slater joining them, while Kiara and Hugo were helping out — or rather, acting more like kids themselves with how they were having more fun than the children. As for Nina and Finn, as usual, the couple were relaxing under the big umbrella nearby.

"Haha. How cute," she muttered, turning her head to the side where Atlas was seated.

Atlas was dressed in nothing but a loose white shirt and shorts, sunglasses covering his eyes, his hair tousled by the wind. He was simply watching everyone play, his expression nearly the same as always. But Lola could tell he wasn’t just watching — he was assessing everyone.

"Atlas?" she called, tilting her head. "Should we swim?"

He didn’t answer immediately, eyes still on the family playing in the salt water, before he finally faced her. "That night..." He trailed off, choosing his words carefully. "...what did you talk about with them?"

"Hmm?" Lola blinked, needing a moment to recall which night he meant.

Despite her conversation with his siblings, she had forgotten to bring it up with him. Though that was partly Atlas’s fault. He had been making the most out of this honeymoon. She never had a chance.

He blinked slowly, shifting his gaze back to his family. "Something is bothering them."

With that, clarity dawned on her.

Lola’s brows lifted, her eyes widening slightly as she studied his neutral expression. A brief flicker of worry crossed his eyes, giving away how much his siblings’ behavior concerned him.

They were right, she thought. His worry... only makes them worry more.

And suddenly, Penny’s words from the very first time they met echoed in her mind: because Atlas was the way he was, no one would ever know when he was in pain. No one would know when he was struggling. He made everything seem so easy.

No matter how cold he appeared at times, it was obvious he had a soft spot for his siblings.

Lola let out a shallow breath and scooted closer until she was hugging his arm. His brows twitched upward at her sudden closeness. When he turned to her, all he saw was a small, mischievous curl of her lips.

"No wonder your siblings want to protect you," she said. "You’re really like their father."

His brows knitted, making her chuckle. Lola rested her head on his shoulder, her gaze drifting back to the others.

"We talked about our first lives," she said quietly, aware he was looking down at her. "How could I not listen to you the first time? But... oh well. I just realized I’m not alone in this world. There are people out there just like me."

She paused, then glanced up at him. "Atlas, I know you’re holding back some information from me so I can enjoy this vacation." Her smile softened as she looked away. "Although I have a pretty good idea of what it is."

"I wouldn’t have married you if I hadn’t known you’d eventually catch on," he said casually, eyes lowering to meet hers when she looked up. "We wouldn’t have worked."

Her cheeks, already flushed from the heat, warmed even more from the compliment. "I’m smart."

"You are."
