The Billionaire’s Regret -Alessa (by Bukolami) novel Chapter 47

**Shadows Beneath the Silent Moon**

**Rising Echoes by Aiden R. Vale**

Alessa beamed as she served breakfast to her children, her heart swelling with warmth and affection. The aroma of pancakes and syrup filled the air, mingling with the sound of clinking cutlery. She dished out generous portions, her movements fluid and practiced, before finally settling down at the table with them.

As they began to eat, Alessa couldn’t help but steal glances at her twins, her smile unwavering. There was something almost comical about their puzzled expressions; they exchanged glances, a silent conversation unfolding between them about their mother’s unusual demeanor.

“Do you need anything else? You can have ice cream for breakfast, if you want,” Alessa offered, her tone light and playful.

The twins shared a look of bewilderment, their brows knitting together in confusion.

“Isn’t she supposed to be mad at us?” Aria whispered, her voice barely above a breath, glancing sideways at her brother.

“I thought so too. This is definitely weird,” Aiden replied, equally perplexed, his eyes darting back to their mother.

“What do you want?” Alessa began, but Aiden swiftly interrupted her, a playful smirk on his face.

“Seriously, what’s going on?” he asked, his curiosity piqued.

“Nothing, nothing! I’m just being nice,” she retorted, a grin spreading across her face as she turned her attention back to her meal, though her kids’ stares remained unwavering, as if they were waiting for her to reveal a secret.

And then, as if on cue, she looked up again, a soft chuckle escaping her lips.

“Just tell us what you need,” Aria implored, her eyes wide with anticipation.

Aiden rolled his eyes, his sarcasm surfacing. “I never thought I’d see the day when a billionaire needed something from her kids. Hmm.”

“Okay, okay! We… we are going to Vegas!” Alessa exclaimed, clapping her hands together with a radiant smile. The twins, however, remained stoic, their faces betraying no hint of the excitement she had hoped to see.

Gradually, the clapping subsided, and Alessa’s smile faltered slightly.

“I realize I promised we’d have more fun and go out more often, but I’ve been swamped with work. I need to handle some business in Vegas, but it’s just for a few days. Once we’re back, I promise we’ll have an entire week filled with fun and adventure,” she explained, her gaze softening as she looked at them, hoping to convey her sincerity.

“Where is Vegas?” Aiden asked, his curiosity piqued.

“It’s a city, the playground of America,” Aria chimed in, her eyes sparkling with newfound knowledge. Alessa raised her brows, genuinely surprised.

“How do you know that?” she asked, her tone laced with intrigue.

“Oh, our teacher back home mentioned it once,” Aria replied nonchalantly.

“She did?” Aiden’s eyes widened, clearly impressed.

“Yes, but your brain is too dumb to recall,” Aria teased, a mischievous grin spreading across her face, which earned her a glare from Aiden.

“Well, she’s definitely getting fired,” Alessa muttered under her breath, taking a sip from her glass of water, trying to mask her amusement.

“So, how does that sound to you guys?” Alessa asked, her voice hopeful.

Before Aria could respond, Aiden swiftly placed his hand over her mouth, effectively silencing her.

“Before you run your big mouth, let me do the talking,” he said, a hint of mischief in his tone.

Aria, undeterred, bit his hand playfully, causing him to hiss in surprise as he recoiled slightly.
