The Broken-hearted She And The Icy He (Lily and John) novel Chapter 642

642 The Rescue

“If you keep me trapped like this, you’re only pushing me into a corner,” Mergan growled, his voice thick with desperation. “You’re forcing me to drag you down with me! Lily, if I were strong enough to stand against you, I’d end you myself!”

Lily’s eyes flashed with cold fury. “What did you just say?” Mergan’s face drained of color, his legs trembling beneath him as he staggered backward. The realization hit him hard—she no longer cared for him. More than that, she despised him now. But to hear her speak of killing him? That was a nightmare he had never dared to imagine.

His lips quivered, struggling to form words as pain twisted his expression. “You… want to kill me yourself?” he finally whispered, disbelief and agony mixing in his voice.

“Yes,” she said, voice sharp and unyielding. “I want you shattered into a thousand pieces, your bones ground to dust.” The merciless words extinguished any flicker of hope he might have clung to.

Mergan doubled over, clutching his stomach, unable to straighten up. His bodyguards stood frozen, but Bodger and Taylor wasted no time. “Hold him down!” they barked, commanding the reinforcements they had brought with them.

Though Mergan had a formidable number of guards at the villa, Bodger and Taylor arrived with four or five times as many. Outnumbered and overwhelmed, Mergan and his men were quickly subdued and restrained.

“Lily, put down the shard,” Taylor urged gently, taking a step forward. “We’ll take you back to the Luke family.”

At last, seeing that her captors were truly here to rescue her and that Mergan was no longer a threat, Lily lowered the jagged piece of porcelain from her hand. The moment it clattered to the floor, Taylor instinctively reached out to take her hand and guide her toward the exit.

She flinched, stepping back sharply, eyes wide with caution. The distance she put between them spoke volumes—she was not ready to trust him yet. Taylor’s heart clenched painfully at the sight, the sadness of her fear washing over him. Without pressing further, he simply said softly, “Lily, my car is waiting right outside. Let’s go.”

“You can’t take her!” Mergan roared, his voice cracking with desperation and rage. “Lily is mine! I’ll protect her, love her! No one will ever take her away from me!”

Bodger’s face darkened with fury. He stepped forward and punched Mergan hard. “You savage!” he spat. “Lily is a person with her own life, not your possession! What twisted logic makes you think she has to be with you just because you ‘like’ her? She loves James—only James. She can only be happy with him.”
