659 A Mother’s Choice

“He’s a very good person. He even offered to take responsibility for me, even though I was the one who forced myself on him. I don’t feel a connection with him, so I didn’t plan to be with him. But I do want to keep the baby. My income is decent, so I can give the child a good life. I want to raise this child properly.”

Lily’s heart ached for Adeline’s decision. She knew being a single mother would be hard and exhausting.

But since this was Adeline’s choice, she would support her.

He didn’t know why he had stopped her car; he felt like a lunatic.

But he didn’t want her to think he was crazy. After a moment of stiffness, he forced himself to speak. “You’re pregnant. Take good care of yourself.”

Adeline’s eyelashes fluttered. So, he had stopped her car just to express concern.

She had always seen her senior as cold and distant, keeping everyone at arm’s length. She hadn’t expected him to be so kind.

But no matter how kind he was, he wasn’t hers.

She lowered her eyes, masking her emotions. “Thank you,” she said softly.
