The Day Silence Spoke novel Chapter 158

Nikita, busy planning their rendezvous point, didn’t notice the look in Latisha’s eyes.

Soon, they arrived at the train station. The bustling crowds were a welcome sight. Finding one person in this sea of humanity would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

“Okay, Latisha, I’ll meet you in Hanse City,” Nikita said. “Be careful on the train, and call me if you need anything, you hear me?”

Latisha nodded. *You too. Be safe.*

“I will. I have to go,” Nikita said, not wanting to linger. Once she was on the highway, she’d be in the clear.

Latisha stood on the curb and watched Nikita’s car drive away until it was out of sight.

She had no intention of leaving. Santino’s plan was to frame Nikita, to make it seem as if Nikita had masterminded the whole thing. If she left with her, she would be playing right into his hands.

As long as Nikita was safe, that was all that mattered. Once Clifford found her, he would stop looking for Nikita.

She just didn’t know if she would ever see her friend again.

She stood motionless on the platform as people rushed past her. A cold wind whipped through the station, and a fine, misty rain began to fall. Everyone was in a hurry, except for her.

After a long time, she took out her phone and bought a ticket online. She didn’t have her ID, so she couldn’t get past the gate anyway. She found a seat in the main hall and listened to the announcements echo around her.

...

Meanwhile, Ziven and his team stormed the apartment, only to find it empty. He had tracked Latisha’s phone to this location, but he was too late.

Ziven breathed a sigh of relief, but then felt compelled to warn her. “Mr. Lambert is waiting outside.”

Latisha froze and turned to look at him. He gave her a look that said, “You’re on your own now.”

Her fingers curled into a fist, her nails digging into her palm. She took a deep breath and walked out of the station.

In the parking lot, she saw the gleaming Maybach. She walked toward it, her feet splashing in the puddles left by the rain, and stopped beside the passenger window.

The tinted glass slid down, revealing Clifford’s sharp, handsome profile. He turned his head, his cold eyes landing on her. The dim lighting of the parking lot cast his face in shadow, making his expression impossible to read.

Ziven came up behind her. “Mrs. Lambert, please get in the car.”
