The Day Silence Spoke novel Chapter 246

"Alright, you should eat now. I'll go brew the medicine Mr. Lambert had me bring."

Latisha glanced at the packets of herbs in his hand but remained silent.

Ziven didn't wait for a response, heading straight to the kitchen to prepare the remedy. He brought out the dark, steaming liquid once it was ready and, after Latisha had finished her meal, watched to make sure she drank every last drop before he left.

The medicine was incredibly bitter, making Latisha's face scrunch up in a grimace. Once Ziven was gone, she returned to the sofa, her mind still racing. It was impossible to force herself to remember things this way. The memories that surfaced unintentionally were probably just a normal part of how a mind works.

The only way to test her condition was to focus on events that should have left a deep impression, like the three days she was held captive by Santino.

And Nikita going abroad.

And… Yolanda's death.

The thought of Yolanda made her gasp. She had forgotten again. Just a few hours ago, she had been wracking her brain, and that major event hadn't surfaced at all.

She quickly grabbed her pen and wrote three keywords in her notebook: Yolanda, Santino, Nikita.

She realized she couldn't intentionally search for what was lost, because she didn't know what was missing until a memory resurfaced.

Clifford didn't come home that night. Latisha fell asleep on the sofa and was woken the next morning by Ziven arriving with her breakfast. The routine was the same: he watched her eat, watched her drink the bitter medicine, and then left.

That afternoon, Dr. Harmon returned. A light drizzle was falling outside as he knocked hurriedly on the door. Once inside, he put down his bag and asked, "How is it, Ma'am? Did you manage to write anything down?"

Latisha nodded and handed him the notebook from the coffee table.

Dr. Harmon flipped through the pages. "What is this? Looking at these words now, can you remember what they refer to?"

Latisha leaned in to look. She pointed her finger at the names 'Santino' and 'Nikita.' But when her eyes fell on the word 'Yolanda,' a flicker of confusion crossed her face. Finally, she shook her head. She couldn't remember.
