The Day Silence Spoke novel Chapter 280

"We can," one of them replied, "but are you certain the listening device is inside the screen?"

Fabian frowned. "I don't care. Destroy the screen first. We'll figure out the rest later."

Honestly, if Mr. Lambert hadn't told them it was a listening device, they would have never known. They had detected a signal from it with a scanner, which was the only reason they were sure.

The experts got back to work with their tools. After some effort, they finally managed to break the screen.

With the screen removed, only a plain black ring remained on Latisha's ankle. It looked like a simple bracelet. If it weren't a bug, it would have been quite stylish.

One of the men took a tool and carefully scraped at the black ring, managing to collect a tiny bit of powder after a long time.

"I'll take this back to the lab and see what kind of material it is."

Fabian nodded. "Good. Go on, get to it."

The team packed up their equipment and left, leaving Latisha and Fabian staring awkwardly at each other.

Fabian checked his watch. Mr. Lambert should be back soon.

At that moment, Clifford was stuck in traffic. He pinched the bridge of his nose, looking weary.

Ziven was driving, occasionally glancing at Clifford in the rearview mirror. The board meeting had lasted all day; it was no wonder he was exhausted.

After some thought, Ziven spoke up. "Mr. Lambert, Santino escaped. Should we go after him?"

Clifford didn't even open his eyes. "Of course we're going after him," he said flatly.

He added, "Santino won't leave Etherea City so easily. Search carefully."
