The Devil's Betrothed novel Chapter 770

Chapter 770: The Good News

Rafal guided Erin to their mother’s chamber and made her sit on the bed while Erin mumbled, "Why is mother acting this way? Didn’t even let me go to inform them."

"You should listen to mother," Rafal said calmly, not saying anything to her despite he had also understood what was going on.

Erin simply nodded and sat in the bed, letting Rafal arrange pillows for her to lean against the headboard.

Soon, the Rainiers arrived at the guest mansion. The Ahren’s welcomed them. Before anyone could talk more, Lucian asked, "Where is Erin?"

He looked like he didn’t care about anyone or anything. His gaze only searched for her.

"She is in my mother’s chamber on the first floor," Rowan answered.

Lucian looked at the butler of the guest mansion and said, "Lead the way."

The butler bowed lightly and led his way as everyone just watched him leaving, having no regards for others.

Rowan chuckled softly, "That’s our Lord Rainier there, who sees no one else but his wife."

Ignoring them, lady and lord Ahren discussed the matter with Gwen and Paul.

-----

Inside the chamber, Lucian went to Erin where Rafal was still accompanying her so she won’t feel lonely. Both men greeted each other and Rafal left.

Lucian sat at the edge of the bed and held her hand gently, "Are you not feeling well?"

"It’s nothing much. Maybe just a cold weather," Erin said, "I wanted to talk about something."

He offered a light nod, signalling her to continue.

"Mother asked me to stay here in the guest mansion till our wedding," she informed.

"What do you want to do?" he asked.

"I think I shall listen to her as well," she answered, "What do you think?"

"You can stay here," he assured her.

----

After a while, the physician arrived. Gwen made sure to keep it discreet as she knew the importance of it as well.

As the physician was there, Lucian was waiting in the drawing room along with other men after visiting Erin.

Rowan said to him in a low voice. "What are you so worried about when you are the reason for my sister’s situation?"

Lucian offered him a questioning gaze, to which Rowan answered, "Maybe."

Lucian immediately looked towards the staircase, waiting for the physician to come downstairs. He got the meaning of what Rowan was implying.

Soon the physician came downstairs while the two mothers continued to accompany Erin, who was overwhelmed with what the physician said.

She could not wait to see Lucian’s reaction and share this happiness with him.

Gwen and Lady Ahren were visibly happy as it was the blessing to have a child, though it was out of order for them as Erin was not yet married.

Erin looked at her mother, to think what she would say.

In response, Lady Ahren patted her hand gently and said, "You have to take a proper rest now. Don’t overexert yourself for wedding preparations. All you have to do is to appear at the wedding while we take care of the other things."

Seeing her mother was not upset, Erin could not help but hug her. "Thank you, mother." Those few words conveyed Erin’s gratitude towards her supportive mother.

She looked at Gwen who was smiling pleasantly at the lovely news. She was going to be a grandmother.

"Congratulations, Erin," Gwen said.

"Thank you, mother," Erin replied happily.

Aaron, who had heard that the physician was called at the Ahren’s guest mansion, arrived there as well. Ahrens were staying at his estate and were the guests of Wynters, so it was his priority to take care of them.

He saw all the men waiting in the drawing room. He went to Lucian who was standing with his gaze fixed towards the staircase. "What’s the matter?"

"It’s Erin," Lucian replied. "The physician is checking on her."

Just then they saw a physician and his female apprentice coming downstairs. Lucian walked ahead where the Physician directly headed towards him, with a pleasant smile on his lips.

"Lady Erin is expecting a baby," the physician informed, "Congratulations, Lord Rainier."

Lucian didn’t wait and straight headed upstairs while others were happy to hear it as well.

"Your impatient brother knocked my sister up," Rowan said to Aaron.

"You should thank my brother for making us uncles so soon," Aaron replied.

Paul and Lord Ahren congratulated each other as well.

Rina, confused, looked at him, "Aunt?"

Rowan nodded, "Erin and Lucian are going to be the parents."

"What?" Rina exclaimed happily as she understood clearly, "So we are going to have a baby in the family. That means I won’t be the youngest one anymore?" she looked excited with this thought, "Now no one will treat me like a baby anymore, but a lady."

Others laughed at her while Rowan said, "Just enjoy your days when you are being pampered with so much love. Why are you in a hurry to be a lady?"

"I want to grow up quickly so I can marry you," she answered, "Didn’t you say once I am old enough, I can marry you."

Everyone looked at her in a shock while Rowan said with a playful chuckle, "Sure. Grow up quickly."

Aaron pulled Rina to his side and said in a little strict tone, "Rina, he was just teasing you. Don’t take his words seriously," and he looked at Rowan, "Stop putting things in my sister’s mind. She is too young to understand your jokes."

"Alright," Rowan said.

Just then Rina saw Erin and Lucian coming downstairs. She stood up and hurried towards them.

"Brother, they say I am going to be an aunt."

Lucian hummed as he patted her head. They settled in the drawing room where Rina asked, "We should think about the names as well."

As others hummed to see the excited little girl.

Rina said to Lucian, "You are the one to name me Rina. So, if it’s a baby girl, what would we name her?"

Lucian didn’t even think for a moment and said, "Aaria."

The mention of the name was emotional as it was the name of Aaron’s sister. Aaron kept quiet while Rina asked again, as she looked at Erin, "And if it’s a baby boy?"

"Collin," Erin answered. It was Lucian’s father’s name.

"Ah, that’s perfect," Rina said.

"Then we can find a wife for him named Margaret," Gwen said this time. Margaret was Lucian’s mother’s name.

"That’s so nice as well," Rina cheered up.

This talk brought happiness among everyone.

Rina sat back next to Aaron and said, "I truly like the name Aaria. I wish it’s a baby girl so we can name her the same."

Aaron patted her head gently, a light smile playing on his lips as he hummed.
