Caitlin looked at the tiny babies in their swaddling cloths, finding it hard to believe they had really come from her. For a moment, she felt an incredible sense of awe at what her body had accomplished.

Jasper, Silas, and Gemma were all beautiful names with lovely meanings, but the surnames gave Jade pause.

She looked at him in disbelief and asked,"Gordon, are you saying the three children will have three different last names?"

It wasn't just Jade. Caitlin and everyone else in the room froze, turning to look at him.

Caitlin was especially stunned. They had discussed first names during her pregnancy, but the topic of surnames had never come up. After all, it was tradition for children to take their father's name.

"That's right," Gordon confirmed with a nod.

Stuart turned to Gordon, his eyes filled with profound gratitude. "Gordon, thank you."
