The Divorce Prescription (Celina and Adam) novel Chapter 946

"When will she wake up?" Jonah asked.

"She just needs some rest, Mr. Pilsner. She'll be fine after a nap," replied the doctor.

Jonah stepped forward and gently lifted Hailey into his arms. Without another word, he walked out of the hospital.

Jonah brought Hailey back to his villa. After placing her carefully on the soft bed, Jonah pulled the blanket over her with deliberate care.

His heart was filled with anger and disappointment, but he couldn't take it out on her since she was carrying his child.

His hand moved slowly to rest on her stomach. Beneath his palm was their kid.

A dull ache spread through his chest, mixing with something tender and overwhelming.

He leaned down, pressed his forehead gently against her belly, and whispered, "Don't be scared, sweetheart. Daddy's here."

Jonah loved this child deeply. He kissed Hailey's belly and said, "Hey, sweetheart, I'm your dad."

He wanted to tell the child that it was nice to meet them and that he was their father. There was no response, of course, but Jonah smiled anyway.

Becoming a father for the first time felt strange, almost unreal, and yet unforgettable.

He sat upright, gazing at Hailey's face. Then, he reached out and brushed his fingers along her cheek.

He still couldn't understand how she could be so cruel.

He could accept that she was cruel to him, but the real question was why she was cruel to the child.

Was it because the baby was his? Did she really not want to have his child?

Jonah's voice was rough and bitter as he spoke to himself. "Hailey, what am I supposed to do with you?"

Hailey felt like she had been asleep for a long time. In her dream, someone was forcing her onto an operating table. They were trying to take her baby away.

Relief rushed through Hailey. She cradled her stomach with her hand and asked, "The baby… is really still here?"

Jonah walked over to her. Tall and composed, he stopped at the edge of the bed and looked down at her. "The baby's still there. Does that disappoint you?"

Hailey was taken aback. She looked at Jonah, and only then did she notice something was off.

So, he knew about her pregnancy?

Hailey asked, "You know I'm pregnant?"

Jonah let out a cold laugh. "Yeah. If I hadn't found out on my own, were you planning to keep it from me forever and never let me know?"

So that was what he was angry about.

Hailey tried to explain. "I wanted to tell you, but—"

Jonah cut her off. "When? After you got rid of the baby?"
