The Doormat Wife’s Ultimate Glow-Up novel Chapter 279

"You can’t just go back on your word!"

"That was before you and the Ramos family pulled all that crap!"

Zach stepped away from her, dodging her hand like it burned, his eyes full of open disgust.

"So now everything’s my fault, is that it?" Tara felt the sting of his glare but forced herself to meet it, her own eyes turning sharp. "Don’t twist this, Zach. You started all of it.

"You were the one who gave up on Reese and went abroad, just so you could latch onto the Wiles family’s power.

"If you’d stayed with her, if you hadn’t left, she never would’ve gotten tangled up in our mess. She wouldn’t have broken up with you, she wouldn’t have ended up marrying Sebastian!"

She was breathing hard now, voice shaking with anger. "All these years you’ve been obsessed with Reese, loving her, hating her, torturing yourself over her. Meanwhile, you kept me around, taking everything I gave, but always holding me at arm’s length. And after you came back, you just got colder.

"Then when you found out the truth about the past, you were happy like you finally had a way to win her back. You never even thought about me, that I was still pregnant with your baby. You were ready to get revenge for her, no matter what it cost anyone else!""If I hadn’t been desperate to keep you, do you really think I would’ve done any of this?

"Yes, the baby had problems—but now I can never have children again!

"This is all because of you, Zach. Every bit of it!

"And you honestly think you and Reese still have a shot?

"You never trusted her. Not back then, not now. When did you ever actually stand by her side? Name one time!

"You can’t—because it’s never happened!

"You never deserved her love!"

Zach took a shaky step back, face pale, completely floored by her words.

It was a long time before he found his voice again. When he did, it was ice-cold. "Believe what you want, Tara. But I’m telling you now—the Ramos family is finished."

Sweat trickled down Tara’s face as she watched him head for the door. Her eyes went hard and she gritted her teeth. "Zach, have they even found your uncle’s body yet?"

He whipped around, staring at her like he’d just been hit. For a second, something like panic flickered in his eyes. "What did you say?"

Tara just looked at him and started laughing, loud and bitter.
