Stella tore her gaze away and was about to get into her car when a familiar vehicle pulled up beside her. The window rolled down, revealing Foreman's handsome, refined face.
"Star."
"Foreman, what are you doing here?" Stella asked, pausing.
"I heard Haynes and Keen were in town," he explained. "I had some free time today and a gift for Keen, so I thought I'd stop by."
"Keen's not here right now. He went out with Joshua."
"Oh, that's a shame," Foreman said, feigning disappointment. "Keen mentioned wanting to go to the amusement park, so I managed to get some tickets. I was hoping we could all go together, you, me, and Haynes."
Foreman had always been good to Keen, bringing him thoughtful, practical gifts every time he saw him. Keen had indeed mentioned the Solmaris amusement park a few times, and Foreman had likely picked up on it and gotten the tickets. In terms of his kindness to Keen, Foreman was faultless.
"Thank you, Foreman," Stella said.
"When do you think Keen will be free?" he asked.
Stella thought about her schedule. "I can clear my schedule in three days. Does that work for you?"
A shadow crossed Haynes's face. "He's Star's bodyguard," he said flatly. "He's here to protect her and Keen."
Foreman knew Haynes was staying at the Williams Mansion and had surely witnessed Stella and Joshua's closeness. He had already dealt with Neville. Getting rid of Joshua would be more difficult, as he had no justifiable reason. But perhaps he could use Haynes to do it for him.
"Haynes, Star trusts Joshua completely right now. She takes him everywhere. But I've had him investigated multiple times and come up with nothing. It's like he doesn't exist. Neville was also looking into him. He had just found a few clues when… the incident happened."
"Neville's incident?" Haynes asked.
Foreman nodded and recounted the story. "Joshua is with Star all the time. He knows her entire schedule. It would have been easy for him to set something like that up. And then there was the Stuart Gibson affair… he dragged Star into so much trouble, she almost didn't make it back."
