Early the next morning, Donovan Jennings’ group, who had rested overnight in Stonehaven Town, set out again.
Following the direction of the aura, Gregory Xander assessed,
"Southwest, about thirty kilometers away."
Elder Zeke nodded, ready to take out a map to locate the place, but Uncle Hua spoke up from the side,
"Thirty miles southwest, that’s in the direction of Old Anson Hill."
Uncle Hua was the local guide Donovan had arranged beforehand. He was in his early forties but was very familiar with the surroundings. When the group heard this, they straightforwardly asked about the situation he knew.
Uncle Hua only said,
"Near Old Anson Hill there’s only Lloyd Village. Lloyd Village is not only poor but also a bit xenophobic. However, my aunt married into Lloyd Village, so when we get there, we might be able to find her."
While talking, the group got into the car, and Uncle Hua took the initiative to drive them there. The journey went smoothly, and after an hour and a half, they stopped at the entrance of Lloyd Village.
As soon as she got out of the car, Scarlett Jennings couldn’t help but frown.
This village gave her an uncomfortable feeling.
Faint Black Mist hovered above the village, differing from the Shadow Energy and Resentful Energy she had felt before.
While she was contemplating, a woman suddenly approached from the village. Despite it being winter, she was wrapped rather tightly, with only her somewhat dark eyes exposed.
Her gaze swept over the six people in Scarlett’s group before she spoke, her voice slightly hoarse yet feigning enthusiasm,
"Are you here to explore the village? Our village has beautiful scenery, you will surely like it."
When she said the word "like," her eyes squinted a bit, filled with a sense of longing.
Scarlett’s group instinctively furrowed their brows; the woman’s behavior clearly conflicted with Uncle Hua’s previous mention of "xenophobia."
Uncle Hua also felt inexplicably puzzled.
He knew Lloyd Village was poor, so how could young people come here to have fun?
But he didn’t expose her lie; instead, he stepped forward and said,
"Miss, we came to visit my aunt, do you know Adeline Lester? It’s been a long time since I saw her, and I wanted to bring some juniors to see her."
This was the pretext they had agreed on beforehand.
To avoid upsetting the villagers with a large group, which might result in them being chased away.
Uncle Hua knew they came here to look for something. Although he doubted Lloyd Village had what they needed, he had been paid, so he naturally had to help them thoroughly.
The woman heard they were looking for someone and squinted, then said,
"Oh Adeline Lester, I know her, I’ll take you to her."
Saying this, she started leading the way without waiting for a response.
Scarlett’s group saw the situation and followed her.
Elder Zeke and Uncle Hua walked in front, Gregory Xander and Evan Anson in the middle, while the remaining three were at the back.
Stella Gibson tugged Scarlett’s sleeve, whispered close to her,
"Scarlett, this person is not right."
Scarlett looked at her and heard Stella say,
"She doesn’t quite seem alive."
Scarlett’s heart skipped a beat, then beside her, Nathan White also whispered,
"She smells like blood..."
Not just her, but many places in this village have this smell.
This village definitely has issues.
And likely these issues are related to that evil presence.
It’s uncertain if the martyr’s remains are also here in this village.
As they were walking, Stella suddenly halted, inhaling sharply,
"Over there..."
Scarlett followed her gaze and saw a part of the village, among the clustered houses, where several villagers surrounded a certain flat house.
Those villagers stood stiffly in front of the house, covering three positions around its frontal area.
Even though it was daytime, their behavior conveyed an eerie sensation.
Because of the disturbance here, the people at the door suddenly looked towards them, and the next moment, everyone looked at them simultaneously, their eyes revealing an indescribable and chilling brightness.
That expression seemed like they had seen some delicious feast.
One of them directly asked the leading woman, and she merely said they came to find someone.
The person’s eyes seemed to swivel, then said,
