The Jennings Family has been quite peaceful these past two days, compared to the outside.
Aside from Uncle Ming, the housekeeper, busily organizing the preparations for the family’s party, there hasn’t been much resistance from others concerning Magnolia Hearne’s return.
Even Grandma Jennings, after accepting that the daughter-in-law brought home by her son was the original one, silently accepted the situation.
It’s certainly better for the original to return than a substitute.
Otherwise, to say that their Jennings family had three daughters-in-law, one died, one divorced, leaving only the third one, wouldn’t sound good.
Scarlett Jennings didn’t get involved in all this; for the past two days, she’s been staying in the practice room over in the West Tower.
This room was specially renovated by Luca Jennings after Scarlett’s previous room was struck by lightning, expanding into an indoor grand hall that connected three rooms.
The windows are all bulletproof glass, the whole space is not only large but also highly sealed.
Scarlett uses this room for her subsequent research on new techniques.
At this moment inside the room.
Magnolia Hearne sat on a nearby chair, casually picking at a piece of fruit, watching as Scarlett stood in the spacious center, quickly sending out three talismans from her hand.
With one hand chanting the mantra, spiritual power rapidly gathered at her fingertips.
Faintly, there was a hint of demonic power mixed with the spiritual power,
"When humans come, the paper separates; when ghosts come, the mountains separate; a thousand evils can’t harm, ten thousand evils can’t break through."
As she chanted, the talismans lit up with spiritual light, mixed with a faint red glow.
Scarlett carefully observed the changes in the talisman’s spiritual light, chanting the final spell, then with a wave of her hand, the three talismans suddenly flew toward Magnolia Hearne.
"No demon ghosts shall invade!"
Magnolia Hearne, holding a fork in one hand, raised her hand to block the three talismans in mid-air.
Whoosh.
The spiritual light on the talisman seemed to flare like flames, and Magnolia only felt the burning sensation on her fingertips, quickly retracting her hand.
At the same time, Scarlett lifted her hand and recalled the three talismans, placing them away.
Then, she jogged over towards Magnolia and asked,
"This is the amulet I’ve enhanced with my own demonic power. It can ward off demon ghosts, how is it?"
Magnolia just extended her palm, showing the slightly reddened fingertips,
"What do you think?"
Scarlett thought, surely it has succeeded.
The previous amulets mostly sensed shadow energy, acting more against ghostly evils.
Now, it can also sense and defend against demon energy.
Fortunately, she had previously researched incorporating demon energy into talismans, otherwise, it wouldn’t have been possible to complete the enhancement so quickly.
Before, she borrowed other demons’ powers, which was simply a case of using whatever was handy.
Now she could use her own power.
Magnolia then said,
"The demonic power, like spiritual power, even the strongest amulet can only ward off demons weaker than you. If you encounter a true Great Demon, this amulet would be useless."
She wasn’t worried that saying this would dampen Scarlett’s enthusiasm; in her view, for someone with only a quarter demonic bloodline to achieve this level, Scarlett was already doing very well.
This talent compared to hers was not inferior in the slightest.
Well, she truly is her child.
The two then briefly discussed other talismans Scarlett had enhanced, and shortly after, the room door was knocked open.
It was Uncle Ming, the butler, who came in. Seeing Scarlett and Magnolia Jennings sitting in the hall eating snacks and chatting, appearing harmonious and warm, his eyes crinkled with a smile, saying,
"Miss Scarlett, the pet turtles you asked others to select have arrived, would you like to take a look first?"
Scarlett nodded and added,
"Wait, call the system over first."
No sooner had she finished speaking, the voice of the system turtle echoed rapidly in her mind, approaching from afar,
[I’m coming! I’m coming!]
The sound approached swiftly, and Scarlett leaned forward to see the system turtle, tied to a mini skateboard, its limbs just touching the ground, paddling along the corridor.
The mini skateboard swiftly carried it closer.
