“You’re threatening me?” Naomi’s voice trembled with rage.

Colton raised an eyebrow, smirking. “What, you didn’t hear it clearly the first time? Of course I’m threatening you, dumbass.”

“You-!” Naomi’s face darkened until it was nearly black with fury.

Her bodyguards remained silent. After all, this was Westbrook. No matter who they worked for, they had to exercise restraint. They were only here to protect Naomi, not to help her bully classmates. That was never the Sue family’s style.

“Eliza, we’re leaving.” Nolan grabbed her backpack, and the four of them surrounded her protectively as they exited the classroom.

Naomi was left behind–seething with humiliation and fury.

Outside the classroom, Nolan gently turned Eliza’s face toward him with a frown. “Let me see.”

A bright red handprint burned across her cheek.

Henry looked furious. “The Sue family is out of control! So what if they favor their little sister? Who brings bodyguards to school and hits people? Do they think Westbrook belongs to them now?”

Colton snorted. “What’s there to be scared of? Their real leader, Tristan, isn’t even here. They sent that playboy Christian instead. Naomi’s probably not even that important to them. Different mother, after all.”

“Exactly. If she really mattered, why would they wait eighteen years to show up and claim her?” Henry added.

Eliza gave a dry laugh. “Took them this long to find their so–called daughter? What were they doing all these years?”

“Yeah,” Henry agreed. “I doubt she means that much to them either.”

Nolan cut in, “I’ll take Eliza home. You guys go ahead.”

Henry frowned. “No way. What if they come back for more? It’s too dangerous.”

“She’s staying at my place. She’ll be safe.”

“…She’s what?” Henry stared at them, dumbfounded. He looked at Eliza, then back at Nolan. “Eliza’s living with you?”

Colton and Lewis looked equally shocked.

Even they didn’t know where Nolan lived.

And now Eliza was just casually living there?

Colton glared. “Nolan, you traitor! You dumped us the second you saw a pretty face!”

Lewis nodded solemnly. “Betrayed the brotherhood.”

Eliza, still a little dazed from everything, reminded them, “Colton, you slapped Naomi. The Sue family might not let that slide.”

“She’s already got it out for you,” Colton said flatly. “You’re the one who should be worried.”

That was true. Naomi wasn’t one to let go of grudges easily. If she dared to strike Eliza in public today, it wouldn’t stop there. The rest of the school year wouldn’t be easy.

Eliza and Nolan returned to the Hayes estate that day.

In the car, Eliza asked curiously, “When did you bring those bodyguards to school? I didn’t even notice.”

They had arrived together that morning. She hadn’t seen any bodyguards.

“Claire University gets investment from the Hayes family. Since I’m attending, the school automatically assigns Hayes security on–site.”

The students at Claire were mostly children of powerful families from all over the country.

No way would the school risk anything happening to them. Security was top–tier. So were the guards and private bodyguards.

“That makes sense. Eliza nodded thoughtfully. Maybe she should hire her own too. It would be safer that

way.

“You don’t have to worry–I’ve already hired bodyguards for you.”

“…What? When?” She blinked in surprise.

Nolan reached over and ruffled her hair. “No one will lay a finger on you. Not as long as I’m here.”

Back at school, Naomi refused to leave the classroom. Too many students had seen what happened. News of her trying to slap a new student–and then getting slapped herself–spread like wildfire.

The Sue family’s name was supposed to carry prestige. Instead, they’d become the butt of a joke.
