Naomi leaned back on the school–provided lounge chair as she spotted Eliza walking in from outside the classroom. “Why don’t you come take a look too?”

Still sour from the humiliation she suffered from Henry earlier that morning, Naomi saw Eliza alone and seized the opportunity to try and reclaim some dignity.

It was the last class of the day, and Eliza had hoped to keep her mood intact. But Naomi’s constant provocation had worn down her patience.

Without a word, Eliza stood up and walked toward her.

Naomi assumed Eliza wouldn’t dare do anything in public.

She was wrong.

Eliza reached out and grabbed Naomi’s wrist–the one with the ring–and yanked it forward.

“Eliza! What are you doing?!”

Naomi’s face paled as Eliza calmly pulled the ring off her finger.

Before anyone could react, Eliza turned and walked to the window.

She raised her hand–and threw the diamond ring out.

It traced a perfect arc through the air… then vanished without a sound.

Everyone stared in stunned silence.

She threw it?

She actually threw it?

“Eliza!”

Naomi shot up from her seat, face twisted in fury. “That ring was a gift from Christian! You’ve got some nerve!”

“That cheap little rock doesn’t deserve to be worn by the Sue family’s Ms. Cassandra. If Christian really loves you, he can buy you something better. But don’t flaunt garbage like that in front of me–I can’t even be bothered to throw it away.”

“You-!”

Naomi turned ghost–white.

And now Eliza had just tossed it like trash?

Panicked, Naomi shouted at her bodyguards, “Go–go find it, now!”

Naomi quickly forced herself to calm down. She glared at Eliza and snapped, “What do you know? That ring was a gift from Christian–of course I care about it!”

“Oh? So you’re upset because it was from Christian… or because it was expensive?”

Eliza’s words hit their mark.

Anyone watching earlier could see it–Naomi’s panic was all about the ring’s price tag.

For people like them, expensive jewelry was usually insured. Even if lost, it wasn’t a big deal–it could always be replaced.

No one would lose control like that in public.

“So what if it’s expensive? It was from Christian. Of course it’s precious to me!”

Just then, a bodyguard returned–along with a female student holding the ring in her hand.

“I think someone from your class dropped this?”

Naomi rushed over the moment she saw the pink diamond. “Yes! That’s mine!”

She snatched the ring back and quickly slid it onto her finger–only to narrow her eyes at the girl.
