“See? I told you. There’s no way she’s really the Sue family heiress.”

Eliza’s classmates dispersed one by one, disappointed.

Just as she was ready to settle into class, the dean walked in.

Beside him stood a tall, lean man with an icy, striking face.

He hadn’t said a word, but the moment he entered, the room fell into silence.

The dean spoke up cheerfully, “Everyone, please welcome your new classmate–Halbert, the fourth son of the Sue family. Starting today, he’ll be studying with you.”

Eliza’s eyes narrowed.

Great. Another Sue. Just can’t get rid of them, can I?

“Halbert, why don’t you say hi to the class?” the dean encouraged.

Halbert was the picture of a cold, aloof type–nothing like Christian.

He didn’t say a word. He just walked straight to Eliza’s desk.

“I’m sitting here.”

The entire class gasped.

Halbert dropped into the seat beside her.

Eliza frowned instinctively, wanting to scoot away.

But Halbert didn’t give her the chance. He set his books down and tugged her directly to his side.

“I expect you to cooperate,” he said, voice low and indifferent, eyes cutting toward her like ice.

She’d heard of students being demoted–but this was extreme.

For the rest of the class, Eliza felt like she was sitting next to a walking freezer.

Halbert didn’t even look at her, but his presence was suffocating.

Outside the door, several Sue family bodyguards had quietly stationed themselves, dressed low–key to avoid drawing attention.

When the bell finally rang, Eliza snatched up her textbook, ready to bolt.

But Halbert was faster–he pressed his hand firmly down on her book.

Two bodyguards immediately appeared behind her.

“Ms. Eliza, are you ready for lunch? We’ve arranged a personal meal just for you.”

One of the guards turned to Halbert. “Sir, would you like to dine in the classroom or at the cafeteria?”

“Here,” Halbert said coolly.

A five–star chef strolled in, followed by an entire culinary team.

Several menus were placed before Halbert.

He picked two dishes at random, and the chef left to begin preparing them in the campus’s gourmet kitchen.

Eliza was stunned. “Mr. Halbert, I need to eat. Can you please tell your people to stop blocking my way?”

“I’ve already ordered your lunch,” Halbert said. “I’d appreciate your cooperation.”

“I don’t want to cooperate.”

She grabbed her book, ready to leave–but the bodyguards stepped in to block her path again.

Halbert’s voice was sharp and cold. “You think I want to be here by playing pretend with you? I don’t talk much, so don’t waste my time.”

His attitude was harsh.

And Eliza could clearly see the disgust in his eyes.

It wasn’t just indifference–it was loathing. Deep and visceral, as though even looking at her made him

sick.
