Outside the classroom, Eliza had just stepped out when she ran right into Nolan.

“You–how long have you been standing there?”

“Three minutes.”

“So… you saw all of that?”

“Mm–hm. I did.”

Nolan’s gaze shifted briefly toward the classroom, where Halbert still sat.

“Halbert may only be twenty–one, but he’s already considered a rising star in finance. He runs several of the Sue family’s subsidiary companies. His abilities are solid–but he’s dangerous.”

“You’re saying he’s dangerous? Doesn’t that make him really dangerous, coming from you?”

Eliza’s words made Nolan arch a brow.

“In your eyes, I’m dangerous?”

She realized she’d just said what she was thinking out loud.

Coughing to cover it up, she replied, “You know what I meant…”

She’d heard of Nolan’s reputation long before. In her previous life, he was already known as a formidable force in Westbrook.

And truthfully, when it came to danger, Nolan was no less threatening than the Sue family.

Before she could say more, a furious voice cut through the hallway-

“Traitor!”

It was Colton.

Clearly, he was on the verge of exploding.

His fist landed hard against Henry’s jaw.

At the end of the corridor, Henry’s lip was bloodied. Lewis stood beside him, for once looking serious.

Two Foster family bodyguards held Colton back.

But Colton’s eyes were blazing with rage. “What’s wrong? Not fighting back? Feeling guilty?”

Henry remained silent.

Colton’s voice turned sharp and cold. “You used us from the start. Now you’re dropping out? What, afraid to look us in the eye anymore?”

“Colton, that’s enough,” Lewis tried to deescalate.

But Colton shoved his hand off. He glared at Henry. “Don’t let me see you again. If I do, I’ll beat you again.”

Henry’s brow twitched.

The next second, one of the guards pinned Colton’s arms.

Henry stepped forward, his tone frosty. “That punch was your one free shot. But don’t think you’re actually stronger than me.”

“You-”

Before Colton could finish, Henry’s fist landed in his gut–hard.

Colton doubled over, nearly coughing up blood.

“Henry! Are you insane?!” Lewis snapped.

“Don’t give me that brotherhood crap,” Henry said icily. “We all wanted something. We came together by chance, we part by choice. No one owes anyone.”

His tone was cold enough to freeze the air.

“Your Goodman family and Gray family combined still aren’t qualified to stand in front of me like own the place. I’m letting you off this time. If there’s a next–watch your back.”

Eliza watched Henry speak, her blood running cold.

This wasn’t the Henry she remembered. Not even close.

“Sir,” one bodyguard stepped forward. “The car is ready.”

Henry didn’t spare Colton or Lewis a second glance. He simply turned and walked away.

Colton was still curled on the floor, struggling to rise.

Lewis bent down to help him.
