The Heiress's Second Chance At Vengeance (Eliza) novel Chapter 540

Chapter 540 A Strategic Alliance

Eliza didn’t want to make things harder for the driver, but she still wasn’t sure if Cramer would truly help them.

Just then, Nolan emerged from the hotel with his men. The moment she saw he was unharmed, she flung open the car door and ran to him.

Nolan! Are you alright?

She searched him over with worried eyes, afraid she’d find even the slightest injury.

Nolan reached out and ruffled her hair. I’m fine. Did you get hurt?

Eliza shook her head. Wendy wanted to kill us both tie up all loose ends.

She can’t.”

My men have been stationed around the area,he said. I kept them from going in so they could wait for her to come out. Then we’d take her.

You had a backup plan?

She hadn’t known about Nolan’s arrangements and was surprised he’d prepared a second move to capture Wendy.

Cramer walked out of the hotel just then. Why don’t the two of you come to my home? I have much to discuss.

His polite smile gave nothing away. From what she’d seen so far, Eliza couldn’t tell if he was genuinely decent or simply good at hiding his true face.

Cramer’s question was aimed at her.

And what exactly do you want to discuss, Mr. Cramer?Eliza asked.

You came overseas to take Wendy, didn’t you? We can work together.

He smiled faintly. If we join forces, I believe Wendy will be in our hands soon enough.”

She’s your fiancée’s godmother. Are you sure you want to do this?

Cramer’s smile sharpened. Ms. Eliza, can’t you tell this marriage isn’t my choice? Wendy killed my father and took over my family’s inheritance. I loathe her- why would I marry her goddaughter?

If not for the public nature of tonight’s event, he never would have let Wendy pull such a stunt without warning, forcing Vivian on him in front of everyone.

You make a good point,Eliza said. Then I suppose we’ll be troubling you for a few days.”

She had already considered that this wasn’t their turf. Wendy had tried to kill them once and could try again. Nolan’s resources here were limited; rather than exhaust them, it made sense to accept Cramer’s offer. An opportunity like this wouldn’t come again.

She tugged on Nolan’s arm. He always listened to her, and he clearly understood her reasoning.

They both got into Cramer’s car.

As if he’d anticipated their agreement, Cramer had already arranged the best rooms for them. It was Eliza’s first time at his home.

The moment she stepped inside, her eyes fell on a massive oil painting of Wendy and the late Leo. Dressed in wedding attire, they could almost be mistaken for father and daughter rather than husband and wife.

Even in death, Leo’s name had left Wendy with the title of Madam Cullinan overseas.

Your rooms are upstairs. You’ve both been through quite a shock tonight we’ll talk tomorrow. I’ve had everything prepared for your stay. If you need anything else, tell the staff,Cramer said, his arrangements meticulous.

Eliza and Nolan headed upstairs. The home’s decor was grand and opulent, with hallways lined in antiques that spoke of long history.

Yet, for some reason, the endless corridors pressed on Eliza’s chest. When Wendy had first married into this house, perhaps she’d felt the same.

These are your rooms,” a servant announced, opening two doors rooms connected from the inside.

Eliza and Nolan exchanged a glance. Cramer had clearly done it on purpose, sensing the bond between them.

Thank you,Eliza said, stepping inside without protest.

Seems I owe him some thanks this time,Nolan remarked.

She shot him an exasperated look. What’s that supposed to mean?

He only chuckled. They’re separate rooms, but Cramer’s showing us he means no harm giving us peace of mind.

I get what he means. It’s you I’m not sure about,” she said, narrowing her eyes.
