Chapter 556 A Shattered Worldview
Only when a person’s worldview collapses can they be reshaped into someone else.
Eliza understood that feeling all too well.
“Alright, I get it.”

“Eliza,” Henry’s voice came through the phone, heavy with concern, “you need to be careful while you’re abroad.”
Of course she knew. Here, their connections couldn’t match Wendy’s. To avoid her surveillance, she and Nolan had no choice but to stay inside Cramer’s residence.
“Cramer’s goal has always been clear–he wants to topple Wendy. But Wendy… if she doesn’t want Saint Corp, then what is it she’s after?”
Eliza and Nolan began reviewing everything from the start. Ethan and Emilia’s deaths had pulled the lid off two decades of corruption at the medical academy.
Could Wendy really be doing all this just for money? If that were the case, she could already be one of Westbrook’s wealthiest.
For power, then?
But Wendy had never become head of the Foster family. On her first day overseas, she had even handed all of Saint Corp’s control to Cramer.
If it was really about power and status, she wouldn’t have done that.
She had already tasted both. Wendy had another purpose–one that pushed her to gamble with her life for over twenty years.
So what was it?
“She joined the Eye.”
Nolan’s words cut straight to the heart.
Wendy’s transformation had begun only after she joined them. Leo’s death was tied to her.
She altered his will, inherited Saint Corp, and had likely been working for the Eye ever since.
But what had the Eye given her in return?
What secret bargain bound them together?

When Eliza opened it, Vivian stood outside, looking shy. Her gaze flickered between Eliza and the room, lingering on Nolan.
Nolan said nothing. He simply stepped into his own room next door, leaving the two women alone.
Eliza noticed the curiosity in Vivian’s eyes. “You… you’re curious about him?”
Vivian nodded, embarrassed. “I’ve never seen a man that handsome. Cramer’s good–looking too, but… not like him.”
Vivian had met few men. Someone like Nolan–there were barely a handful in all of Westbrook.
For seventeen years, Wendy hadn’t allowed Vivian near men. Of course she was curious.
“Enough about him. Did you come here for something?”
“I brought you some soup to try.”
She carried in a clay pot and set it on the table.
The aroma filled the room at once.
“I don’t know if it tastes good, so I wanted you to try it first.”
Vivian ladled a bowl and placed it before Eliza.
Eliza looked down. The chicken soup glistened golden, the arrangement in the pot worthy of a
five–star restaurant.
“You can cook? I thought a pampered heiress like you wouldn’t know how.”
“My mom taught me since I was little. I’m good at it. I just worry Cramer won’t like it.”
At the mention of Cramer, her cheeks flushed bright red.
Eliza didn’t know how to tell her—even if Vivian cooked like a world–class chef, it probably wouldn’t win Cramer’s heart.
“I’ll try it.”
One sip, and Eliza had to admit–it was delicious, the best she’d ever tasted.
“It’s really good. But… I don’t think Cramer will appreciate you showing up in his study. Better

“I think so too. He didn’t seem happy when I went in earlier, even though I only meant to tidy his desk.”
Seeing her troubled expression, Eliza said, “Winning a man really can be as simple as your mother said—through his stomach. But if he already has a prejudice against you, the more you appear in front of him, the more he’ll push back.”
“But if I don’t appear in front of him… then won’t he never see me at all?”
Vivian looked at her in puzzlement, as if she couldn’t understand such logic.
