The King Of War Returns (Jaden Rift) novel Chapter 103

Clara leaned back in her chair, swirling the last of her wine in her glass with a mischievous glint in her eyes. She cast a quick look toward Hannah before flashing a teasing grin.

“Hannah, maybe it’s a suitor,” she said, winking. “A little mystery admirer trying to sweep you off your feet. Sounds romantic, no?”

Then, without subtlety, she turned to Jaden. “And definitely someone far more elegant than... well, some people.”

Her voice was sweet, but the barb was sharp.

Jaden didn’t look up. He continued eating as if they were discussing the weather.

Hannah sighed and pushed her chair back gracefully. Her heels clicked against the marble floor as she stood, expression calm and composed. “Tell this ‘gentleman’ thank you for the offer, but there’s no need to pay our bill. Return both the money and his card.”

The waiter blinked, caught off guard. “Miss... you’re declining an invitation from the youngest master of the Moon family—Mr. Triston Moon himself. I’d advise against appearing... ungrateful.”

That was a mistake.

Before anyone could speak, Drax stood up slowly, his broad frame towering over the waiter.

Without warning, Drax’s fist connected with the man’s face. A sickening crunch echoed as blood spurted from the waiter’s nose.

He stumbled back, shrieking. “Y-You animal! You’re dead! Do you even know who you’ve just offended?!”

“You’re too reckless!” Clara hissed, rising from her seat in panic. “Do you know what you’ve just done?! The Moon family controls half the Ravenmoor district. They’re not someone you can just punch and walk away from!”

Drax didn’t flinch. He stood calm, composed—like violence was just another part of breathing.

“When you’re dealing with trash,” Jaden said flatly, still eating without a glance at the chaos around him, “you don’t reason. You take it out. Otherwise, they start thinking they have power.”

Clara stared at him in disbelief. “You—You’ve already offended so many families, Jaden. Why provoke another?!”

Hannah placed a hand on his shoulder, worry tightening her expression. “Jaden, let’s just leave. We’ll find another restaurant. The Moon family is dangerous, especially their youngest son... Triston. He’s been pestering me for months.”

The concern in her voice wasn’t fake.

But before they could make a move—

SLAM.

The restaurant door burst open.
