The King Of War Returns (Jaden Rift) novel Chapter 104

The room was heavy with tension. The guards still formed a perimeter around Jaden’s table, but now every eye turned to the man who had just entered.

Bright Thornfell.

The third son of the prestigious Thornfell family.

He strolled in like he owned the place—hands buried in his pockets, posture loose, lips curled into a smile that was anything but friendly. His presence was polished, almost royal, but something about him reeked of entitlement wrapped in velvet.

His gaze settled on Hannah, and he didn’t waste time with pleasantries.

“So, you’re the woman who humiliated my brother?”

Hannah lifted her chin. Her arms folded neatly across her chest, and her tone held no fear—only precision.

“I was engaged to your brother. Past tense. The contract was annulled by both our families. So I’d appreciate it if you’d show a little respect.”

Bright’s smirk deepened. “Oh, I’m all about respect. That’s why I’m offering a deal.” His voice dipped, almost playful. “Have dinner and drinks with me—just a quiet evening—and I’ll forget the disrespect your friends showed. They walk free.”

Clara shot a glance at Hannah, alarmed. Drax’s eyes darkened.

Hannah didn’t flinch. “I don’t need your mercy. Nor your offers. You think your last name gives you the right to treat people like pawns?”

From the side, Triston Moon stepped in, trying to laugh off the tension.

“Come on, Hannah. Just one drink. Don’t be so cold. You know how dull these nights get without someone as stunning as you beside us.” He reached out, fingers brushing her arm.

SLAP!

The sound exploded through the restaurant like a firecracker.

In one blur of motion, Jaden had risen and delivered a brutal backhand that sent Triston sprawling to the floor.

Blood spilled from Triston’s nose as he collapsed, his limbs going limp. Unconscious.

A gasp swept across the room. Even Bright blinked.

“What the hell?” one of the guards whispered.

“Did he knock him out in one hit?”

“This guy—he’s insane.”

In the chaos, the waiter from earlier began edging toward the back door, clearly wanting no part in what was about to erupt.

Bright took one slow step forward, his posture stiff, his jaw tight. He stared at Jaden like he was trying to decipher a puzzle he didn’t like.

“Who the fuck are you?”

Jaden didn’t move. His voice was calm—ice over steel.

“I’m someone your family can’t afford to provoke.”

Bright barked a short laugh, the sound ugly and sharp. “You arrogant bastard. Do you know where you are? There isn’t a soul in Ravenmoor the Thornfells can’t crush. We own this city.”
