"I can't leave this place?" Jaden’s voice was calm, even amused. He dusted invisible lint from his sleeve as he glanced around the shattered silence of the room.
"You misunderstood me," he continued, his tone icy, unhurried. "I didn’t send the ladies out because I was afraid... I sent them out so their dresses wouldn’t be ruined by your blood."
His words fell like thunder in the room.
Bright’s face twisted with rage. "You bastard!" he snarled. "Still acting tough when you’re one step from the grave?! Kill him! Now!"
One of Bright’s guards roared and lunged forward, fist flying straight toward Jaden’s face.
But Jaden didn’t flinch.
He merely lifted a single finger—and caught the punch mid-air.
The room froze.
Even the wind outside seemed to hesitate.
"...What?!" The man’s voice cracked in disbelief. "H-How can... how can one finger stop my full force?!"
Jaden cocked his head slightly, as if observing a rare insect. “That’s it?” he said flatly. “You charge in all dramatic… and that’s all you’ve got?”
The guard recoiled, panic setting in.
“Everyone, pull your blades! This guy isn’t normal!” he shouted.
The rest of the men rushed forward, sharp steel glinting in the overhead lights.
“Let’s see if you can block a knife too, tough guy!” one of them barked, slashing directly at Jaden’s side.
But Jaden moved like lightning.
One hand caught the man’s wrist. The other? A casual swipe across the air.
CRACK.
The man screamed as he was hurled sideways like a broken doll, crashing into a chair with a sickening thud.
"It seems," Jaden said coldly, brushing his knuckles, "my body really is tougher than a blade."
Then he moved.
Like a missile.
A blur of motion, Jaden surged forward, ducking and weaving between their stabs, elbows snapping bones, knees crushing ribs, punches sending bodies flying like bowling pins.
One. Two. Three. Four...
Each man hit the ground in seconds, groaning in agony.
"My arm!"
"Don't kill me, please!"
"I—I can't feel my legs!"
It wasn’t a fight.
It was a massacre.
Jaden stood tall in the center of the carnage, expression unreadable. His gaze locked on the last one standing—Bright Thornfell.
Bright’s face had turned as pale as bone.
