The King Of War Returns (Jaden Rift) novel Chapter 106

Bright lay crumpled on the floor, gasping for air, blood trickling from his mouth.

"Mr. Cooper!" he rasped, reaching out like a drowning man. "Please... save me. I’m Bright Thornfell! I swear, if you help me, I’ll pay you double—triple—what Gravesend promised. Name your price!"

Cooper paused by the door, the still-smoking gun in his hand lowering slightly as he heard the plea.

His eyes narrowed.

Thornfell money? Influence?

A slow, greedy smile crept across his face. "Release Mr. Thornfell right now, and I’ll consider sparing your life," he announced, stepping forward confidently. Then, under his breath, he muttered, If I return the Thornfell heir alive, they’ll owe me everything. I’ll be more powerful than ever, even rewarded more than the Gravesends.

He smirked at Jaden, already envisioning the riches.

But Jaden only tilted his head slightly.

Then he scoffed.

A heartbeat later—

CRACK!

Without warning, Jaden drove his foot into Bright’s spine with brutal force. The sound of bones shattering echoed through the room like fireworks on a winter night. Bright’s scream never came—he died before he hit the ground.

His limp body skidded across the marble floor and landed at Cooper’s feet.

"There," Jaden said coldly, brushing imaginary dust off his shirt. "You can have him."

Cooper stared down at the lifeless body, eyes wide with disbelief. impossible? just how fearless is this man to kill the son of the most powerful man in Ravenmoor?

"You... you killed Bright Thornfell?" he breathed, horror tightening his throat. "Do you even know what you’ve done?!"

Jaden looked at him, calm as ever. “And what exactly will you do about it?”

Cooper’s face twisted in fury. “So be it, then... die!”

With a snap of his fingers, the door burst open behind him.

Two dozen armed men flooded the room, black tactical gear and steel-cold expressions, each carrying high-caliber assault rifles. They moved quickly, spreading out, surrounding Jaden in a tight circle. Safeties clicked off. Muzzles pointed at his head and chest.

Cooper grinned smugly. "You might be good with your fists, but let’s see how far that gets you against bullets."

Jaden looked around, then slowly raised his arms.

"How impressive. Twenty guns in a room full of cowards," he said with an amused smirk. “Must be a record.”

Cooper sneered. “Fire. Now!”
