Hearing Norman’s words, Fredrick’s knees buckled. He looked like a man staring at his own grave. Sweat poured down his temples as he turned to Jaden—his pride gone, his face swollen from the earlier kick.
Without hesitation, he dropped to his knees and crawled toward Jaden, his hands clasped in a pathetic plea.
“King, please... I’m sorry,” Fredrick croaked, voice shaking. “I admit it—I was wrong. I apologize... for Mr. Norman’s sake.”
Jaden’s eyes turned cold.
Smack!
Without a word, he lifted his foot and kicked Fredrick clean across the face. The force sent the fat man flying, flipping mid-air before crashing down like a sack of flour. Blood trickled from his nose as he groaned on the floor.
“You’re apologizing because of Norman?” Jaden stepped forward, his boots thudding with authority. “So you think he’s more important than me?”
Fredrick didn’t dare answer.
Norman quickly ran up, bowing low. “No, no, my King! That’s not what he meant—I’m nothing compared to you! I’m less than a worm before you! Please, just tell me how you want them punished!”
Jaden's gaze turned to Martha.
“Aunty,” he said softly. “You’re the one they insulted and cheated. It’s your call.”
Fredrick and the lady scrambled to Martha’s feet like beggars. Their earlier arrogance had completely vanished.
“Please forgive us, Miss Martha,” Fredrick whimpered, coughing up dust. “It won’t happen again—I swear on my life!”
“Yes, please,” the lady added, her mascara now smudged from tears and fear. “You’re kind. We know you have a good heart—don’t ruin our lives.”
Martha folded her arms. Her eyes narrowed as she looked down at the two.
“You bullied me for months. You mocked me, threatened me, and stole from me,” she said sharply. “Now you want forgiveness because you got caught?”
Fredrick tried to grab her ankle, but she jerked away.
“I’ve had enough,” Martha said with finality. “According to the law, do what must be done.”
Norman straightened like a soldier receiving orders.
“Don’t worry, Miss Martha. I’ll handle them personally.” He turned to his men standing nearby. “Take these two leeches to the police station immediately. I’ll make sure the charges stick. Theft, abuse of authority, workplace harassment—oh, I’ll see to it they rot behind bars.”
Fredrick and the lady screamed in protest as Norman’s men dragged them off like garbage.
“Please! No! Give us another chance!”
“You can’t do this—we’re sorry!”
Their cries faded as they were shoved into the van and driven away.
Jaden turned to Martha with a calm smile. “They won’t bother you again.”
Martha could barely speak. Her eyes welled with tears—this time, not from fear or sadness, but relief. “Thank you, Jaden... thank you so much.”
