At the Gravesend Mansion
The dimly lit study in the Gravesend manor seemed to be quite, too quite. after the death of Baron Gravesend, the family have been mourning and all their forces were out to find the killer responsible for this.
A man stood near the tall window, the purple-black sky creeping in through the glass, framing him in a silhouette of power and danger.
He turned away from the view and walked back toward his men — a small group dressed in black suits, well-armed, well-trained — waiting quietly for his orders.
“Send a message.”
He paused for a moment, letting the silence weigh heavy in the room.
“Send it directly to the Killer.”
The soldiers exchanged glances, unsure if this was a bold move or pure madness.
“The Killer, sir?” a young man asked quietly, his knuckles white on his holstered pistol.
“The… one who… took Baron’s life?”
The man nodded, unfazed by their nervousness.
“Exactly. The man who made a mess of this family. The man who thinks we’re weak… vulnerable.”
He stepped forward, letting a slanted ray of light illuminate his piercing green eyes.
“He’s going to find we’re anything but weak.”
He turned back to face the window, hands crossed behind him, and addressed the soldiers once more in a firm voice.
“Send him an invitation. Tell him we want a meeting… a showdown. Tell him… it’s his last chance to surrender… or face the wrath of the Gravesends.”
He paused briefly, adding quietly under his breath:
“This is my opportunity… my moment… to become the heir I was meant to be.”
This was Peter an old ally of the Gravesends, he's served them ever since he was ten, hoping one day he'll be given the opportunity to prove himself worthy to Mr. Gravesend. but Baron always outshined him, since he wasn't their biological child his chances were slim. But not anymore, now with Baron gone he has his perfect opportunity to become the next heir.
“Good… that makes it more fun.”
Drax crossed his arms, eyebrows furrowing in disbelief.
“These people wouldn't stop messing around. I wish I had the permission I would have wiped them off the face of the earth a long time ago." he clenched his fist. "what'd you suggest boss? they won't stop if we don't deal with them."
Jaden pressed the invitation against the table with two knuckles and nodded.
“I know. That’s exactly what I’m counting on.”
He stood up and walked toward the rooftop’s edge, letting the icy night air rush against him.
“I want everyone in this city to know I’m not afraid.”
He turned back toward Drax.
“Tell the men to prepare… We’re going in with a grand entrance.”
