Sapphire crouched in front of me, sleeves rolled up, hair tied back, a faint glow already gathering around her fingers.
“Stay still,” she murmured. “This won’t hurt. Much.”
Zane stood just behind her, tense, watching her every move carefully. His heart raced enough for me to hear, and worry rolled off of him in waves that pressed down on me. Warner hovered nearby too, arms crossed, jaw tight. No one had spoken since I agreed to do this. No one dared.
My hands were cold. Not from fear. Just the burden of everything.
I had done this.
I was the one who had cursed them.
Whatever this was now, it had started with me.
And only I’d end it.
“Your blood’s already responding,” Sapphire muttered, brushing her thumb across the dried trail under my nose. “I just need a small cut. It’ll anchor the spell. Your body has to be the channel.”

I gave a short nod, ignoring the nervous twist in my stomach.
Fear lingered in my chest like a ghost, but I didn’t voice it.
I had to appear confident. Calm. In control.
Sapphire lifted a curved blade—thin and silver—and gently pressed it to the inside of my palm. The sting was sharp, but I didn’t flinch. She caught a few drops in a tiny glass dish filled with something glowing and blue, then smeared the rest across a stone she’d drawn runes on earlier. The air shifted immediately—like the wind had changed direction inside the
room.
A hum built in my ears. Magic. Old and harsh and impatient.
“You’re live,” Sapphire said, standing. Her voice was quiet, but final. “They’ll all hear you now. Everyone in town. Not just the Order—but your words will affect them most. Choose carefully.”
I froze.
My mind blanked for a second.
Then, slowly, memories began to bleed in. The way the Order had attacked the pack house. How they had almost killed me. How Zañe had stepped in front of me. How they shot him like it was nothing. How his body had collapsed, lifeless in the dirt. How I thought I was choosing mercy, not war, when I gave the

I looked down at my hand. Blood still trailed down my wrist, warm and sticky.
This was mine to fix.
So I took a breath.
And spoke.
“I take back what I said,” I said softly, and felt my voice carry for miles. Zane, Sapphire and Warner tensed, almost freezing. “The members of The Order are no longer bound by my previous command, the one I gave on the night of the Blood Moon. You are all free now. Free from the curse, free from my voice, free to live without fear.”
The air around me pulsed. Magic crackled faintly under my skin, pulling something from deep inside my chest. The weight of the connection settled behind my eyes, behind my ribs.
“But you won’t remember this. Not the night it happened. Not me. Not each other. Not the reason you ever came together.”
Another tug. Sharper this time, Like a thread snapping loose in my chest.
“You won’t search for each other again. You won’t try to rebuild what was broken. You won’t fight the wolves again. To you,

My voice was shaking, hands trembling in my lap, but my head spinning from the burden of it all.
