Chapter 27 – Hate Me–2
–LIA’S POV–
Lucky Draw
“So no matter what I do, someone could get hurt,” I whispered.
“Not necessarily,” Blake said.
“But possibly,” Zane admitted.
I ran my hands over my face, blinking hard. “So what do we do now? How do I get out of this? Are there supposed to be two werewolves bonded to one person?”
“No,” they both said.
“It had happened before, but it’s extremely rare, and it usually means something greater is in question,” Blake said.
I glanced at him, then at Zane. “I haven’t heard much of it before. But I have asked people in my pack to find out.”
“Ask them to find out how to get rid of this bond,” I stated.
The boys frowned, their expressions mirroring each other. “Get rid of it?” Zane asked. “You can’t.”
“Too bad, Zane. Because I have to.”
“What are you saying, Lia?” Blake frowned.

“I cannot be with either of you. And definitely not with both. This is too great a responsibility, guys. You are forgetting one very important aspect of our situation. I am not a werewolf. I am human. How can I be with either of you? It’s… weird. It’s like if I decide to marry a dog.”
Now neither of them smiled.
“So you’re saying you reject us both?” Zane raised a brow. “I thought you’d choose me.”
“Why would she choose you?” Blake scoffed. “You and your friends–”
“Enough,” I sighed. “Both of you. I am a human, and I would like to spend the rest of my life with a human. Someone who loves me for the person I am. Not because some supernatural voodoo bond tells them to like me. Unfortunately for you guys, I do not believe in fate,” I announced.
“Bullshit, Lia,” said Zane, crossing his arms. “You have to believe in fate. You’re lying.”
“Zane, I believe in choices shaping your fate,” I stated. “Listen to my heart beat. Tell me if I’m lying. I believe that I should be with a human. I should choose who I love, and who loves me back. I
should be able to choose who I want to be with. No magical bond can decide that for me.”

“It’s the will of the Goddess, Lia. Don’t say stuff like that. It’s all divine decree,” Blake scolded.
“I don’t care,” I snapped. “I do not bow to the moon, alright? I do not believe in any of this. And I need you both to stay at an arm’s length from me. I don’t want this magic messing with my brain. Both of you have been using magic to grow closer to me. To make me feel comfortable, to touch me. How could you do
that?”
“We didn’t do anything, Lia. It happened on its own. We don’t have a choice here either,” Zane said.
“Of course you don’t, Zane. Because until you did, you wouldn’t. even glance at me.”
“That’s not true, Lia,” Zane sighed.
“It is,” Blake said. “You let her get bullied until you found out who she was.”
“And you recognised me the second you saw me, so none of what you did for me was with pure intentions either.” I ran a hand through my hair, turning away from them both. My throat was burning now, and tears pricked my vision. “I guess I was so unwanted, that God decided to add this twist so someone would take an interest in me. He has to force you to want me with a magic bond,” I whispered.
“It isn’t like that,” Blake tried, taking my arms.

“Don’t,” I snapped, moving away from him. I glared at them both. “Stay away from me, both of you. Please. I need time to register everything that has happened. And I cannot miss more of school. So will you please let me remain in campus but keep away from me?”
“Okay,” Zane agreed first after a moment of silence. “Take your time, love.”
