Chapter 120
It was an attempt at comfort, though he seemed unsure of how to provide it.
My heart was heavy as I turned toward the doctor standing near the ward door.
“Can I see him?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
The doctor hesitated. “The Alpha is awake,” he admitted, “but he’s not in a stable state of mind. He’s refusing visitors right
now.”
I wasn’t surprised. Leo had always been proud, too proud to show his pain to anyone, even to me.
But that didn’t mean I was going to leave him alone.
“I’m his Luna,” I said firmly. “I need to be by his side.”
The doctor gave me a sympathetic look but remained hesitant.
“I’ll ask him,” he finally said, disappearing into the room to speak with Leo.
A few minutes passed, each one feeling longer than the last.
When the doctor re–emerged, his expression was apologetic.
“He doesn’t want you to see him in this state. He refused.”
His refusal hurt, but it wasn’t unexpected.
Leo’s pride was boundless.
But we had been married for three years.
I knew every inch of him, every secret, every scar.
He couldn’t hide from me, not anymore.
“Tell him,” I said slowly, “if he doesn’t see me now, I won’t visit him again in the future.”
The doctor hesitated again, but finally nodded and returned to the room.
This time, he came back quickly. “He’ll see you.”
I took a deep breath, steadying myself as I walked into the room.
The ward was dimly lit, the faint glow of the overhead lights casting long shadows across the sterile white walls.
The steady beeping of medical monitors and the occasional shuffle of a nurse’s feet outside the breaking the stillness.
were the only sounds
The room was a stark contrast to the vibrant world outside, where life continued at its relentless pace.
