“Wow, Elizabeth, your skills have really gone rusty!” Emma teased, after listening to my mispronounced plano playing all over the place,
“How on earth did you win first place back in college?”
I let out a frustrated groan and buried my head in my hands, the weight of my own expectations crashing down on me.
I used to been the top student in our music department, but now, even the basics seemed beyond my grasp.
Emma laughed, her eyes twinkling with mischief, as she shook her head at my misery,
“You used to be a force of nature, Elizabeth. But now… well, let’s just say you’ve got a lot of catching up to do.”
She wasn’t wrong, not one bit.
