“This is so pretty. It looks just like Eryndor. It reminds me so much of Selene,” Lylah said as they gathered in the private room.
Sylra nervously stared at the creature in her arms, which was eyeing everyone as if marking their faces, especially Cal, whose mouth wouldn’t stay closed.
“Do you mind if I shove a piece of bread into your mouth and choke you?” Eshara asked.
“Don’t you see it, Eshara? They’ll soon be Dragon Keepers and my adopted mom is one now! It’s a big thing. I can’t even wrap my head around it. What if I get to have a dragon too?”
Eshara smacked him on the head. “You think the goddess will choose you?”
“Why are you so hard on me? You like me or something?” Cal whined.
Eshara rolled her eyes.
“Have you figured out a name for it yet?” Lylah asked Sylra.
“No… I’ll do that later. The goddess will show me the way. Uhm… how’s Rheal?”
“I’m good,” Rheal said, stepping into the room with Sylra’s sister, a small smile on his face. “I’m here to see the creature and say goodbye.”
The creature in Sylra’s arms suddenly flew across the room and settled on Rheal’s shoulder. The boy gasped at the sudden movement but didn’t flinch as the creature stared at him, screeching softly.
Then, suddenly, it dragged its tongue along Rheal’s cheek. The tickle made the boy chuckle.
“Cool,”
“That feels like Drakora’s doing,” Eshara whispered to Cal who blinked rapidly.
Seeing Rheal smile gave Sylra the assurance that the boy would be all right.
Drakora’s death had taken a toll on Rheal ever since he woke up with the thought of never seeing his grandmother ever again, and despite their pleas for him to stay a little longer and recover, Rhealinsisted on going to the Moon Realm to meet his parents.
Perhaps that was what he needed. To heal. He had a strong heart, and since Sylra had promised to make the boy happy no matter what, she was going to do just that.
“Can I come with you guys?” Cal rose to his feet. “Please, I want to go to the Moon Realm too.”
“You can, but not now, Cal,” Sylra said.
“Please, Mom. I… I want to be at Rheal’s side like always. I’ll be his protector.”
“His protector?” Sylra raised a brow. “No. You’ll stay.”
“Lylah,” Cal turned to her with a pleading look. “I’ll do anything. Just let me come with you guys. Please. The dragon can take at least seven people.”
Lylah’s lips tightened. “Sorry. Besides, you’re afraid of heights, remember? You can visit when the others plan to.”
Cal’s face dropped, shoulders slumping in defeat.
“We’ll see each other again soon, friend.”
Cal’s eyes lit up at Rheal’s words. Rheal never called anyone his friend, even though they hung around together despite their age difference. The words warmed his heart.
A smile spread across his lips. He approached Rheal and pulled him into a hug.

“I’ll see you around, buddy,” Cal said as he pulled away with a knowing grin, one Rheal immediately recognized.
Lily, the dragon, stood mighty outside, her scales glowing to life, ady to weave through the air. The luggage was well–secured. A cart–like structure had been built on her back by the male Ouroboros, sturdy and tested enough to keep people steady during travel.
Lylah took a deep breath. Even after trying to get used to riding a diagon with Lucas, she still wasn’t used to it.
She was going back… back to the realm that held so many devious hemories.
Her smile flattered.
Blood. Blades. Screams. Cries. Maniacal laughter. Gruesome deaths. The sound of females getting raped. Torture, real, heart- wrenching torture. Fire. Scars. Chants…
A gasp tore from her lips before she could stop it. It was like she just got pulled out of a trance.
“Are you alright?”
She looked back and saw Lucas standing behind her. He stepped closer, a worried look on his face.
“You’re shivering,” he whispered, holding her hands.
She realized he was right but quickly snatched her hands away and cleared her throat.
“It’s the winter. I’m just cold,” she said, turning to leave, but he took her hand and pulled her back into an embrace.
Lylah wanted to pull away, but his warmth engulfed her, making her stay.
“I know what you’re thinking, little wolf,” he whispered. “I just want you to know I’m always here whenever you need me.”
This time, she broke the hug, chest heaving, swallowing hard as Lucas’s brows creased with concern.
“Lylah…”
“Don’t call me little wolf anymore,” she whispered. As tears began to blur her vision, she quickly turned and walked away. Lucas called after her, but she didn’t stop.
She found a quiet room, locked herself in, sat down, and sank her face into her palms, breathing heavily.
