Chapter 8
Nathan looked at my father with confusion. “What do you mean?”
My father casually glanced at Tessa, his eyes silently conveying everything he intended.
“But how can a person live without skin?”
My father scoffed and waved it off. “That’s not my problem. I only care about one thing–how to keep my daughter comfortable.”
“You’ve already caused Vivian’s skin to be severely damaged, and now your actions have left Lily fighting for her life. Just making you offer this little bit to make up for it is already letting you off
easy, kid.”
Nathan paused for a moment, thinking, before quickly moving to Tessa’s side.
He grabbed Tessa by the shoulders, his hands gripping tightly. Tessa’s eyes welled with tears.
“Tessa, once you’re gone, I’ll take care of you. Your parents will be well looked after, and after
you’re gone, I’ll make them my own parents. I need you. The Carter family needs you.”
Tessa couldn’t speak, only gesturing desperately to her stomach. Nathan’s eyes widened as
realization hit him.
He furrowed his brows and said, “This child is a bastard, born without even a proper birth
certificate, just a ghost in the system.”
“Besides, you won’t last much longer. The child will grow up without a mother, so why not just
get rid of it now?”
Tessa stared at him in shock. How could Nathan say something so heartless? He was an absolute jerk.
I couldn’t help but smirk in my mind. Nathan had already written off Tessa as dead in his mind, while she still clung to the idea that this child mattered.
Tessa, in a panic, cried and slapped Nathan’s arm, trying to break free.
But to Nathan, the sight of her crying, while drooling, only disgusted him further.
He pulled Tessa over to my father, “Mr. Sterling, Tessa’s skin is the best. It can be used for a graft

to fix Vivian. I also want to apologize to her.”
“In fact, I had no idea about any of this. It was all Tessa’s scheming, from offending Vivian to plotting the sauna explosion. It was all her doing. Let her redeem herself with her life.”
He shoved Tessa in front of my father with force, leaving Tessa glaring at him in hatred as she struggled.
Before my father could speak, I interrupted him.
“You two should leave.”
Both of them turned back in disbelief, even my father looking at me in confusion.
“Go.”
It wasn’t until then that they realized what I meant and scurried away like rats.
“Vivian, I never taught you to show mercy to your enemies.”
I just shook my head. The drama of the day had been amusing, but my true vengeance was never
aimed at Tessa alone.
The one truly pulling the strings behind the scenes was Nathan, coldly orchestrating it all. Letting him escape would be an injustice.
I would make sure the Carter family crumbled overnight. I would ruin Nathan’s life and
reputation, ensuring he would never find
peace.
