No, maybe not yet.
If she told him now, he’d probably get too excited even before they reached Moonshadow.
It might be better to surprise him later, to let him know that, without realizing it ... they were already on their honeymoon.
"Since it’ll take us several days to travel to Moonshadow and come back," Primrose began, "We’ll probably need to finish all our work before we leave."
She glanced toward the pile of papers hidden under Edmund’s desk. "And I know you have a lot on your plate, so ... I guess we won’t see each other that much until next week."
Edmund stared at her blankly, but inside his mind, everything was in chaos. [WHAT?! NO! I want to see my wife every single day!]
[But ... she’s right. I do have too much work, which means I’ll probably be stuck in my room most of the time.]
[Wait—what if I ask her to work in my room too? Then we can still be together!]
Actually ... that didn’t sound like a bad idea.
[No—what am I thinking? I wouldn’t be able to concentrate at all if she’s sitting right there in front of me.]
Primrose sighed. That was true.
While Edmund was still lost in thought, Primrose spoke again, "But we can still see each other during meals, so ... you don’t have to worry too much."
Edmund looked at her and muttered, "That’s not enough time."
[I haven’t even been allowed to hold her hand for days, and now I won’t even get to see her properly all week?]
[This ... this feels like I’m being thrown into hell.]
It might have sounded dramatic, but deep down, Primrose felt the same.
She didn’t show it, but she had been holding herself back too.
From holding his hand, from throwing herself into his arms whenever she saw him.
Even now, her hands were still resting on his arm, as if refusing to let go.
Maybe it was time to end his punishment?
After all, five days had already passed. That was enough, right?
"I know it’s too short," she said softly, stepping back. Then she whispered, "Husband ... I was thinking ... maybe I should end your punishment."
Edmund’s eyes widened in disbelief. [MY WIFE WANTS TO END MY PUNISHMENT?!]
[Stay calm. Stay calm. If I act too excited, she might change her mind and extend it!]
He took a deep breath before saying, "I’d be glad, my wife."
Primrose bit her lower lip and looked away, her voice a little shy. "But ... we might waste too much time if we do ’that’, so ... just hugs and kisses for now. Is that alright with you?"
Edmund was never satisfied with just one round when it came to making love.
If she allowed it now, they might not stop until sunrise and even though Primrose always woke up feeling refreshed afterward, she’d still end up sleeping in too late.
With deadlines looming, she couldn’t afford to waste time. Still ... her husband probably wanted it.
Besides, she had promised to let him have it once a week.
She looked back at Edmund, waiting nervously for his answer.
Maybe it was because she’d just eaten candy, but even without that, he always said her lips tasted like honey.
Primrose never really understood that, but maybe it was something only a lycan could feel for the mate he had marked.
"Wife," Edmund whispered beside her ear, "Can I hug you?"
Primrose opened her eyes, though she avoided looking directly into him. "You ... you’re hugging me right now."
"I mean ... tighter," he said, lowering his voice to a breath. "Closer."
Primrose gently wrapped her arms around his body, her hands finding his back. "Is this close enough?" she whispered.
Edmund didn’t answer with words. Instead, once his arms moved behind her, he suddenly lifted her and brought her over to the couch.
Before she could react, Primrose found herself sitting on his lap. "You said hugging and kissing was enough!" she protested.
"It is enough," Edmund replied calmly.
"But isn’t it more comfortable like this?" He tilted his head, his eyes locking with hers. "You don’t have to stand on your toes or strain your neck."
Primrose puffed out her cheeks in a little pout. "That’s because you’re too tall," she grumbled. "It’s not fair. Everyone here is taller than me."
"But you’re the only one I like," Edmund replied softly.
Her cheeks instantly turned even redder at that.
Maybe ... maybe letting him touch her had been a mistake.
"We ... we’re only hugging and kissing, right?" she asked again. "I really don’t want to go that far right now."
