The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 199

Chapter 199: I’m Here

"I don’t know what’s wrong with me, Edmund." She swallowed hard, and then the tears she had been holding back for days finally fell. "But I’m so scared. I want it to stop, but I can’t. What should I do? I don’t kn—"

But before she could finish, Edmund pulled her into his arms.

He didn’t say anything sweet or poetic. He didn’t try to fix it with promises or pretty words. All he said was, "I’m here."

And somehow, it was exactly what she needed.

Her husband was here, holding her like he’d never let go.

Like her pain was his own, and he’d carry it if she couldn’t.

No matter what she had been through, no matter how broken she felt, Edmund wasn’t going anywhere.

His presence alone ... was enough.

"I’m here," he repeated, gently this time. "We’ll get through this together."

Primrose buried her face in his chest, her tears soaking through his shirt, but he didn’t move. He just held her tightly, tenderly, like she were the most precious thing in the world.

"But I’m not strong like you," she whispered.

Edmund rested his chin on her head and said softly. "But you’re not weak either."

"There’s no such thing as a weak person who survives a tiger beast attack.

And here you are, my wife. You are still standing. Still breathing. Still here."

"It was just a coincidence," she replied quietly. "If he hadn’t suddenly lost his mind ... I’d probably be dead by now."

Edmund loosened his embrace just enough to look at her face. "No, Primrose," he said. "It wasn’t a coincidence."

"You were the one who made him lose his mind."

Primrose furrowed her brows, genuinely confused about it.

For the past few days, she had been thinking about the same thing. She wondered how it was possible for a tiger beast to suddenly want to kill himself just because she asked him to.

At that moment, Primrose didn’t hear a single thought in his mind, except for one. "She asked me to die ..."

He kept repeating it, again and again, like a chant stuck in his head.

"How is that possible?" Primrose whispered. "I don’t even have magic."

Edmund didn’t answer right away. He just looked at her for a moment before finally speaking. "One of my royal knights is an expert in magic and spells," he said gently. "When he examined that man’s body, he found traces of magic residue. Specifically ... in his brain."

Primrose blinked several times, tilting her head in confusion. "His brain? But ... I didn’t do anything to his brai—"

She stopped mid-sentence.

Somehow, deep down, she had a feeling this had something to do with her mind-reading ability. After all, she was the one who told Thevan to join his brother, just moments before he smashed his head with a rock.

"Maybe ... I really did do something," she whispered, her voice shaking slightly. Before she could stop herself, she had already said it out loud. "I told him to join his brother," she repeated, eyes looking away. "I told him to kill himself."

"Nonsense." Edmund cupped her face with both hands. "My wife never looks awful."

Then, before she could say anything, he smiled and added, "But if you’ll feel better after freshening up, take your time. We’ll wait for you."

Primrose smiled softly. "You’ll stay with me, right?"

Edmund nodded. "Of course." freeweɓnovel-cøm

[She’s still not emotionally stable. There’s no way I’ll leave her alone with another man. Even if it’s the royal knight, it’s better if I stay with her.]

Primrose didn’t mind her husband following her around for a few days. After all, Edmund was the only person she could truly trust in the entire kingdom.

After asking the maids to help her remove her gown, Edmund escorted Primrose all the way to the front of her bedroom.

It was a little silly, honestly. Her bedroom was just a few steps away.

Still, she didn’t stop him. She kind of liked having him close.

When they reached her door, she turned to him with a small smile.

"You can wait for me in the greenhouse," she said softly. "Lady Solene will be back soon. She can walk me there."

Edmund nodded, his fingers gently brushing through her hair. "Then I’ll see you soon, my wife," he said, his voice warm and full of affection.
