The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 430

Chapter 430: If You Want It, I’d Grant It

When the auctioneer stepped onto the stage, the crowd burst into applause, welcoming him with eager smiles. Everyone was excited, ready to bid on the treasures waiting to be revealed.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!" the auctioneer called out cheerfully, waving to the audience. "For those who came last month and felt disappointed with the selection, today will make up for it because we have plenty of extraordinary items for you!"

Primrose listened quietly to his lively speech while nibbling on the pastries served by the maids. Honestly, she was only there for the experience. None of the items in the catalog really caught her eye, and Edmund didn’t seem interested in anything either.

Lazarus hadn’t arrived yet, but even if he didn’t show up, his famous rum would still sell for a high price. His presence wasn’t really needed anyway. At least this way, Primrose could enjoy some peaceful time with her husband.

"Are you sure you don’t want anything?" she asked again, glancing at him. "Maybe... a pet? I saw a rare breed of dog listed in the catalog."

Edmund looked at her in silence for a moment before saying, "Dogs don’t like me." He paused, then added, "They always bark and try to bite my hand whenever I get close."

Primrose sighed softly. "Alright then, no dogs."

She remembered hearing that dogs often bark at other animals they think are more dominant because they feel threatened.

Maybe that was why they reacted that way toward Edmund.

Alright then, if she couldn’t figure out what her husband might like, she’d just let the universe show her a sign.

"Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to see the first item?!" The auctioneer’s voice grew louder, his energy spreading through the room until the crowd was buzzing with excitement.

Compared to the other auction houses Primrose had visited, the Illvaris Auction House was definitely noisier and far less elegant, but at least this one didn’t sell slaves, unlike many others.

One by one, the auctioneer presented each item from the catalog. The bidding wars were intense, sometimes even a little chaotic, with people shouting and throwing insults, especially when the "mystery item" appeared.

"This is water from the Moon Goddess’s temple!" the auctioneer announced proudly, holding up a clear glass bottle that shimmered with rainbow hues under the sunlight. "It’s said to grant eternal youth! The bidding starts at twenty thousand gold coins!"

"Fifty!"

"Sixty!"

The price kept climbing until it reached a hundred thousand gold coins. From the balcony, Primrose simply watched in silence, trying not to laugh. She and the beasts could easily get that same water for free, just by climbing the thousand steps of the Moon Goddess Temple.

The priests even sent her bottles of that very water every two weeks, saying it was their honor to gift the Queen who had once spoken to the Moon Goddess.

If she had known that people would pay such a ridiculous price for it, Primrose would’ve brought ten—no, fifty—bottles of Moon Goddess Water and sold each one for fifty thousand coins!

After the so-called "beauty water" sold for an outrageous amount, the staff brought a new item onto the stage: a pink perfume bottle.

Primrose leaned forward, intrigued. It wasn’t listed in the catalog, and the bottle itself was stunning because it shaped like a blooming pink rose, delicate and graceful.

"This is the Blooming Perfume! A rare collection created by Madam Rachel, who only makes twelve bottles a year!" the auctioneer announced proudly, his voice full of excitement. "Every month, she crafts a perfume with a different scent, and this one carries the gentle fragrance of blooming roses, mixed with a touch of something so unique that no other perfumer could ever recreate it!"

"But for your information," the auctioneer continued with a bright grin, "this month’s perfume is actually a remake of one Madam Rachel created twenty-three years ago! So, if you’re a fan of authentic and timeless pieces, this one is perfect for you!"

Primrose stood up slightly, resting her hands on the railing as she listened. Madam Rachel was one of the most famous perfumers in the entire Vellmoria Empire.

Her perfumes were known for their one-of-a-kind scents, and as the auctioneer mentioned, no one had ever managed to copy her work because no one knew the secret ingredients she used.

Some people claimed she used a drop of virgin’s blood. Others believed she practiced strange, unorthodox methods. But a few months ago, a group of doctors suggested that her signature fragrances were made from rare flowers, ones that only Madam Rachel seemed to know where to find.

Still, that wasn’t the reason Primrose felt drawn to this perfume. What caught her heart was the bottle itself. The Blooming Perfume being auctioned tonight looked almost exactly like the one her mother used to own.

Lazarus had given that perfume to his wife, Iriana, when she was pregnant with Primrose. That’s why it wasn’t just a pretty bottle or a rare scent, but it was a precious memory from her childhood.

Her mother had used up the perfume long before giving birth, and only the empty bottle remained. Primrose once begged her father to ask Madam Rachel to recreate it, but the perfumer refused, saying she never made the same perfume twice.

Who would have thought that after all these years, Madam Rachel would suddenly decide to recreate her mother’s perfume this month?
