The Mind-Reading Mate Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70: Wedding Vows (II)

Primrose blinked, surprised by how serious his voice sounded.

Edmund slowly lowered his eyes, almost as if he was too scared to see her reaction. "I might not always know the right words. I might not fully understand everything that makes you sad ... but even if the whole world turns its back on you, I won’t."

He tightened his hold on her hands, speaking with determination. "I will protect you. I will stay with you through everything. Not just because you are my wife, or my queen ... but because you are you."

[Even if she ends up hating me, even if she tries to run away from me again... I will make sure no one can ever hurt her,] Edmund thought silently.

To some people, Edmund’s words might sound too much, like empty promises men often say to win a woman’s heart.

Honestly, Primrose would have thought the same if she heard someone else say those words to another woman.

But for some reason, her heart told her that Edmund wasn’t lying.

They weren’t just words, they were a promise. A promise he would surely keep, even until death

"In health and in sickness," Edmund whispered softly. He took the ring and gently slipped it onto Primrose’s finger. "I’ll always be with you."

As the gold ring slid onto her finger, the crimson gemstone stood out against her pale skin, making it shine even more.

Primrose slowly lifted her hand, letting the soft candlelight dance across the surface of the gemstone. She couldn’t help but smile as the gem sparkled beautifully.

Even in the middle of darkness, the gemstone glowed as if it had a light of its own. There was no way anyone could glance at her hand and not notice the ring.

However, Primrose couldn’t spend too much time admiring it because it was her turn to speak.

"Edmund Osbert Varnharme." She called his name softly and paused, gathering her thoughts. "When I first came to this kingdom, I didn’t know where I belonged. Everything felt strange ... and frightening."

Maybe, it was more than frightening.

This kingdom was the place where she had died once.

At first, she didn’t want to give this place or this marriage another chance. But because of her ability, she came to realize that most of the things that happened back then were caused by simple misunderstandings. Really bad misunderstandings.

As she slowly tried to fix them, day by day, everything became clearer, and somehow, brighter.

Primrose knew she still had a lot to do. She still wasn’t sure if she could fully fit into this kingdom of beasts. But at least, now she knew one thing for sure, her husband never hated her. In fact, he stood beside her quietly, supporting everything she wished for.

Well, except for running away without telling him, that was still forbidden.

Primrose smiled softly and continued, "There were times when I thought maybe it would be better if I left. Leave this kingdom. Leave you. Leave this marriage."

Edmund’s face slowly darkened as he listened to his wife’s words.

[I knew that she wanted to leave at the beginning of our marriage, but still... it’s hard to let her go.]

[Does she still think that way even now? Does she still feel that this kingdom is too scary for her?]

Before he could sink further into his worries, Primrose suddenly cupped Edmund’s cheeks, gently pulling him down so their eyes met.

"But now," she said softly, "I’m not afraid anymore because I know that my husband will always be by my side."

"You’ve given me warmth when the nights felt too cold, safety when the world outside was too harsh for me."

"Husband," Primrose called softly. "Now that we’re officially married ... for the second time, we should probably seal our vows with ... you know." She glanced away, whispering shyly, "A kiss."

[FOOL! How could you let your wife be the one to ask for it first?!]

[She must be so embarrassed.] freewebnøvel.coɱ

Embarrassed?

Of course, she was! Especially when her eyes accidentally met the gazes of the soldiers who were still watching them from a distance.

Sure, there was nothing wrong with a kiss after exchanging wedding vows. It was a common thing during a formal ceremony.

But in this silly little private wedding, Primrose felt like she didn’t want anyone to be watching them.

Noticing how Primrose kept glancing at the soldiers, Edmund cleared his throat and casually signaled for them to leave.

In the blink of an eye, the soldiers vanished from the balcony, as if they had been dying to escape from the scene.

After all, watching two lovebirds acting sweet right in front of them was pure torture for two lonely soldiers.

"Wife ..." Edmund suddenly placed his hands gently on her shoulders, causing Primrose to flinch a little. "Let’s kiss."

Primrose frowned.

Why the hell did he sound so serious about it?!
