The Night Wolf novel Chapter 22

Willow felt that her mother loves porcelain more than she loved her own daughter.

She quickly got out of her room and scurried to the other side, to the master bedroom. She knocked on the door before entering.

Venice was rushing around her room packing her things up. When Willow entered, Venice paused and looked up and she burst into a fit of laughter.

Willow could only stare back with a frown on her face. "Mom!" Whined Willow.

"Sorry, I couldn't help it." Said Venice, her laughter subsiding before she started laughing again.

It seemed to be indeed true that mothers love porcelain more than their children.

Willow stomped over to her mother's dressing table and god bless her mother, she found a whole new packet of make up wipes.

Venice had to go on a work trip to New York for a week. On normal days Willow would either stay at Melody's or have Melody stay over. But now that there were additional members living in here, she couldn't go over at Melody's house so her mother asked Natasha to stay over, which she agreed. Though they were working in the same firm, Natasha wasn't included in the project.

"Why do you look like a panda?" Asked Venice.

"I don't look like a panda!" Willow threw her hands up in frustration. First of all her smokey eyes ended up being panda eyes. Second, her very own mother was laughing at her.

Willow stomped out of the room to show that she was mad. Her mother's laughter increasing at that and followed her even after the door was closed between them.

Willow continued back to her room.

"Woah woah woah!" Felix who was lounging on the couch pointed at her. "What is up with you?"

God why? While she went to get those wipes the whole living room was empty, but why now?

Rowan who was climbing down the stairs paused and looked at her with his mouth open before he shut it quickly and looked away.

Willow's heart ached at that. That's what he's been doing the past week. He's been avoiding her, and it was quiet obvious to Willow who was suddenly avoided by everyone at school a year back. And also because he hardly ever talks to her or more like never does. Rowan who used to have breakfast with her in the morning and even who used to ask her to accompany him with Felix whenever the both of them went out was gone. Poofed.

She didn't know why he suddenly turned away from her, but it stung. There were various possibilities. He might have heard of her reputation at school. That was what topped all the theories.

Willow knew that Rowan was out of her league. And now that he was avoiding her like the plague, she didn't mind even being friends with him. It's fine as long as he was close, but he had extinguished it all before it could even begin.

"What is it?" Asked Willow, feigning innocence. While she could baby herself when she was with her mother, the same technique can't be used when with peers.

"You look like a panda."

"We won't bother you." Spoke Rowan with his panty dropping voice.

Now that Roman was avoiding her, she would also help him with it.

"No, you should go." Said Venice. "Natasha mentioned that you haven't been to any parties. When I was your age I partied everyday."

"Mom, you're supposed to be our role model."

"So you should go live your life and not regret later on in life when you have no stories to tell your grandkids."

"Mom you're not allowed to say that."

"I agree with you. Venice is right, mothers are always right." Felix gave Venice thumbs up, to which she returned.

Melody had planned to take Willow to her first party. Now that school would start in two days and most of the students who bullied Willow were away at some camp. This was a perfect opportunity. Melody had also said that Hunter would not be attending and since Hunter would be absent so would Triple and her friends.

She looked at the clock high above and rushed back to her room. Now that Venice had made up her mind, there was no changing it. Willow tried, even though not much effort was put forth. Now she left it all up to Rowan, to decline the invitation. She was already running late.

Using the wipes, she wiped her face up before starting anew. When it came to her eye, she only applied winged eyeliner and mascara. With light tint on her cheeks she applied a blood red matte lipstick.
