The Night Wolf novel Chapter 43

Then came Rowan, below him was Audrey, who was eleven. The sixth one was Damien who was seven and he wanted to eat Blood jello.

Rowan's father had previously married Daisy, who wasn't his mate. But when he met Leona, who happened to be his mate, he had then crowned her the new Queen. The previous Queen was cast aside, Willow felt it was cruel of them. But then again she had reunited with her mate, who she had previously cast aside.

Willow sighed, one would do absolutely everything to gain power. Though Rowan hadn't said anything, Willow could feel that his older brothers weren't much fond of him. She had felt Rowan stiffen when they had come in and he still looked like he had his guards up.

"So," began Leona. "Why don't you tell us about yourself?"

The whole table quieted down, as if a glass was shattered down.

I'd rather not. "There's nothing much, I grew up in Onyxscar and I've been living there all my life."

"Do you do anything? Any hobbies?"

"I paint sometimes."

"She's excellent at it." Said Rowan making Willow blush. Curse her cheeks.

And lo, there goes her trying to be humble. Willow knew that she was good at painting, but 'excellent' was pushing it too far. Say, what if they make her paint here? She's going to embarrass herself.

"You found your mate, that's fine, but he about Annie?" Asked Easton. "Don't you think it's too mean of you to discard her this way."

The whole table froze. Why did Willow feel that everyone had been waiting for this?

Rowan smiled. Willow felt suddenly felt cold staring at his freezing smile. She had to do everything to avoid rubbing her arms. "You're worrying for naught Easton. Annie and I, we had previously discussed about this."

"That's right." Chirped Annie who was sitting beside Renee.

Easton glared at Rowan before continuing eating his meal.

Could he be anymore discreet?

"Now that you are here," Began Rowan's dad who also happened to be the king, which made Willow more nervous than she already was. You never know when a king might just chop your head off though it should be the job of a Queen but Leona was just so lovely, she didn't even give Willow a million dollar cheque to leave Rowan, well, that was a plus right? "Why don't you both stay here for a couple of days?"

Oh hell no!

There too many reasons for Willow to be against staying at the palace. For one, the food, not that the food was bad instead it wss too good but Willow couldn't bring herself to stomach it with blood in wine glasses all around her.

Willow had to restraint herself from cooing. She had to switch into her acting mode. Willow smiled her best smile. "Hey, how are you?"

The line was silent from the other side.

Willow wasn't bothered. "I'm well too."

Willow knew it was rude to answer phone calls when she seated but she had to take the risk to avoid staying here. She stole a glance at Rowan, who furrowed his brows at her. The rest of the table had started up a conversation. But she only wanted the people near her to hear her conversation.

"Baby shark dududududu." Started Emma.

Willow dropped her smile. "What?" She couldn't believe that she had not seen Emma for half a year and now she started to sing! "You're coming to Onyxscar? No? You're an hour away?" Willow nervously looked at Rowan as if to ask 'What should I do?'

Rowan was fighting a smile when her eyes met his, she didn't think much of it, which she would later regret. Instead she took the smile as encouragement.

Willow paused when Emma had reached daddy shark. "No! What do you mean I'm not home? Why wouldn't I be home?" Two seconds later. "Of course I'm, where else would I be if not at home?"

When Emma started about grandpa shark, the line went off. Willow couldn't believe Emma hung up on her, she didn't even get to record Emma singing!
