The Only One Series novel Chapter 3

The cameras were in place in Lana's home. It was easier then he thought. I informed Gunner it was done. Gunner was watching Lana's home in his bedroom. He watched as she entered her house shutting and locking the door. She took off her shoes and walked into her bedroom. She grabbed a tee shirt and sweat pants. I noticed it was one of my old tee shirts. I watched her enter the bathroom and shut her door.

She walked out of the bathroom and into the living room. She turned on her laptop and the tv. She worked on something for two hours before shutting down her computer. Lana then walked into the kitchen and got a cup of coffee before walking back to the living room. She picked up a blanket and walked over and turned the lights out and then sat in a chair covering herself staring out the window.

I could not take my eyes from her. I did notice she lost weight. Too much weight. I also noticed she did not get anything to eat when she came home. She just drank her coffee. I then heard her sobbing. It broke my heart. Her phone rang and I heard her say no William I am fine. I knew that William was one of her brothers. Then there was a pounding on her door. I heard. If you do not open this door sis I will break it down.

I watched as she walked over and opened the door. Johnny, what are you doing here? Another brother of hers. I watched as he carried a suitcase in. I got a call that you aren't sleeping right or eating. Goddamit sis. Look at you. Where is your kitchen? Back there. I have to go William. Johnny is here. Call you later. I looked at the kitchen and saw her brother scrambling eggs and making toast. When he was done he took the plate to Lana and said eat.

I'm not hungry. Eat it now he said. She took the plate and ate half the food. Good now come and lay your head down on my lap. She did what he said. And he started rubbing her head. As he watched tv. I noticed about half an hour later she was asleep. He looked down and saw she was sleeping. I watched as he picked her up bridal style and carried her to her room and put her in bed.

Then I watched as he walked into the kitchen and washed the dishes and skillet before he went and lay down on the couch. I sighed. At least two brothers were checking up on her and one went to stay with her and made her eat. I frowned and thought. They are right she is not eating enough.

I lay down and closed my eyes. I woke up to pounding on my bedroom door. Gunner you need to get up. Your sister is here. Or she says she is your sister. Fuck I thought what the hell is she doing here. I got up and put on my boots and cut and walked out of my bedroom. Shit, I said as I entered the bar. Not only was my sister here but she brought my mom with her. I heard this is going to be interesting.

My mom looked at me with anger. What the hell are you doing? What do you mean I asked? Lana that's what. The woman you promised to marry when you got out. The woman you forgot that is waiting for you at home. The woman who is grieving herself to death. Get your fucking head out of your ass Gunner. Go to her. She needs you. No, I can't. Yes, you can. Gunner do not make me bring her here. You would not do that. Yes, I would his mother said.

Lana Thinks about Suicide

Thanks for telling me the truth. I was happy to send you the packages. Everyone deserves to receive something and it made me sad to hear you and your other buddy had no family. I am glad it helped in some way. Then Hawk saw the tears falling down her face. He stood up taking her hand and said. Walk with me. As they walked around the compound she asked in a small voice.

Hawk what did I do wrong? Why won't Gunner come home? Why doesn't Gunner love me anymore? Hawk looked at her with sad eyes. I know he still loves you no matter what he says. Something happened to him. I know, Donna told me he was hurt. But how hurt could he have been to think that I would reject him? I would never reject him no matter what. I love him. I'm sorry I have to go home.

Hawk watched her walk away from him and cussed at Gunner. I said to myself. Gunner, you are such a fool. Then we all heard it. A scream then tires squealing and driving away. As we ran out to the front of the clubhouse I saw her laying on the road. Son of a bitch someone call 911. I ran over to her turning her over holding her in my arms. I heard her say. Tell Gunner I still love him. The sirens alerted me and then the rescue squad arrived.

I stood up just as I heard we are losing her. Then, we need to shock her. After 15 minutes I heard we have a heartbeat. I watched as they loaded her in the ambulance and drive off. We told the police what we heard and that the car was gone by the time we got here. We then rode to the hospital to wait to hear how she was doing. My VP's wife is a nurse here and she is keeping us posted on Lana's condition.
