The Pack's Daughter (Aysel and Magnus) novel Chapter 198

**Midnight Letters by Daniel Crowe**
**Chapter 198**

In the dim light of the backstage area, just as Ryan was about to let a victorious grin stretch across his face, an enchanting voice, soft yet commanding, sliced through the atmosphere like a gentle breeze.

Turning around, the men caught sight of Julia, who emerged with an elegant poise that seemed almost otherworldly.

“Why?” one of the men inquired, disbelief etched into his features, as if he had just witnessed the impossible.

Julia let out an exasperated sigh, rolling her eyes as if she were dealing with particularly dense children. “She has a mate already—or rather, a fiancé now.”

A wave of relief washed over Julia at the thought that Magnus had chosen not to join them on this trip to M Country. Had he been present, the sight of these men drooling over a prize they could never claim would likely have ignited a primal fury in him, leading to chaos and destruction.

Her voice took on a serious tone, laced with an unspoken warning. “Do not let your desires show too much.”

Ryan felt his heart plummet, the sensation akin to a delicate creature caught in a winter’s frost.

“But they’re not married yet! Maybe Aysel would prefer my type?” he protested, his claws instinctively flexing in frustration, a futile attempt to mask his vulnerability.

His two male colleagues exchanged incredulous glances, astonished that even the typically composed and aloof Ryan could fall prey to such foolish infatuation. Could it be that he was so blinded by love that he dared to challenge Aysel’s mate?

Julia’s expression morphed into one of disdain, her features tightening as she shot him a look that brooked no argument. “Don’t even entertain that thought. You have no chance.”

Ryan’s fangs clicked together nervously, a sound betraying his inner turmoil. “Why not? Her fiancé—he’s handsome, right? Wealthy? Can he care for her like I could?”

Julia nodded, her expression grave. “More handsome. Richer. Aysel is his treasure. Accept it, wolf—you have no chance.”

The blow landed on Ryan like the sharp snap of a branch in the dead of winter, leaving him feeling utterly shattered, his dreams crumbling around him.

“I… I just can’t—”

Before he could finish his thought, Julia raised a hand, cutting him off with an air of authority. “Sophia! Ryan’s trying to chase Aysel!”

She had wasted no time in delivering the news, her tone dripping with a mixture of urgency and reprimand.
